May 15, 2025
Vyacheslav PARKHOMENKO, senior lecturer of the department of physical culture and sports, won gold and bronze medals at the European sports radio orientation championship in the Republic of Poland.
The competition was held on May 09-11, 2025 in the forests around the town of Lubaczow. The competition is organized by the European radio sports federation. At the championship, athletes competed for awards in three disciplines.

On the first day of the competition, Vyacheslav took 3rd place in the radio orientation exercise among veterans 60 years and older, losing only 3 seconds in the finish corridor to the silver medalist athlete from Slovakia Josef Simacek.
The next day, athletes competed to find checkpoints in the 144 Mhz band. The competition was held in the rain, which significantly complicated the accuracy of direction finding by athletes of transmitters installed by judges at checkpoints. This time Vyacheslav ran the distance with a significant advantage over his opponents and took 1st place.
On the third day of the competition on the 3.5 MHz band, Vyacheslav PARKHOMENKO took 4th place in his age category, losing 20 seconds to another athlete from Ukraine – Mykhailo PUHACH.
