On March 04, 2025, at an expanded meeting of the Department of Biochemistry named after Academician M.F. Hulyi, a preliminary review of the results of the dissertation work of Andrii Pototskyi, performed on the topic “Bile pigments, lipid and phospholipid composition of blood and bile of rats with tetracycline-induced hepatosis”, supervisor - Doctor of Veterinary Sciences, Professor Victoria Hryshchenko.

During the period of postgraduate studies, the candidate for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy A. Pototskyi fully completed the full range of scientific tasks on the topic of the dissertation, in particular the peculiarities of microscopic changes in the liver of rats with tetracycline-induced fatty hepatosis and with the use of milk phospholipids were clarified; the content of total lipids, phospholipid composition and bile pigments in native blood, bile and liver of rats with tetracycline-induced fatty hepatosis and with the use of milk phospholipids were investigated; developed scientific and practical recommendations for correcting changes in the metabolism of lipids and bile pigments in the drug-induced form of hepatopathology in animals. The applicant provided comprehensive answers to 24 questions of the members of the extended meeting of the Department of Biochemistry named after Academician M.F. Gulyi of NUBiP of Ukraine, as well as to the comments and recommendations of the reviewers: Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Ihor Kalinin and Doctor of Philosophy, Assistant Ihor Hrishchuk.

The meeting noted that during his postgraduate studies, the applicant for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy A. D. candidate A. Pototskyi had successfully completed the specialization “Non-Communicable Animal Pathology”. On the topic of the dissertation 16 scientific works were published, including: 5 articles in scientific professional publications of Ukraine, 2 scientific and practical recommendations, 9 abstracts of scientific reports at international conferences. A positive conclusion of the supervisor was received.

In her speech, the supervisor, Professor V. Hryshchenko emphasized that the graduate student for the first time studied the lipid, phospholipid and bile-pigment spectra of blood, bile and liver in experimental laboratory rats with tetracycline-induced fatty hepatosis, indicating the formation of a deficient level of the studied indicators and the development of intrahepatic cholestasis. The marker changes in the studied parameters and the effective restorative properties of the dietary supplement “FLP-MD” based on milk phospholipids were determined, which allows it to be recommended as a hepatoprotective agent. V. Hryshchenko focused on the characteristics of the applicant and noted that during his postgraduate studies he proved to be an initiative, capable, hardworking and responsible performer, demonstrated excellent theoretical knowledge, ability to solve problems, and successfully completed pedagogical practice. She noted the successful implementation by the applicant of the individual plan of scientific work and the curriculum for the OPD “Non-Communicable Animal Pathology” in the specialty 211 “Veterinary Medicine” (field of knowledge 21 “Veterinary Medicine”).

The following persons took part in the discussion of the report of the PhD candidate: Doctor of Veterinary Sciences, Professor Viktor TOMCHUK; Doctor of Veterinary Sciences, Professor Oleh MELNIK; Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Ihor KALININ; Doctor of Veterinary Sciences, Professor Liliia KALACHNIUK; Candidate of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor Olha TUPYTSKA; Doctor of Philosophy, Assistant Ihor Hryshchuk and others.

In conclusion, it was decided that, taking into account the scientific maturity, professional qualities of the applicant for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy Andrii POTOTSKII and the results of the scientific and educational components of the OPD “Non-Contagious Animal Pathology” in the specialty 211 “Veterinary Medicine”, the dissertation on the topic: “Bile pigments, lipid and phospholipid composition of blood and bile of rats with tetracycline-induced hepatosis” is recommended for submission to the professional seminar of the Scientific Council of the Research Institute ‘Animal Health’.

Congratulations to Andriy Konstantinovich!
