November 1 - the day of remembrance of the holy martyrs and miracle workers Cosmas and Damian of Assisi - patron saints of veterinary medicine in Ukraine

   On November 1, 2024, on the day of the memory of the holy silverless monks Cosmas and Damian of Assisi and their mother, St. Theodotia, Abbot Yevfimiy held a service in the church consecrated in honor of the icon of the Mother of God “Life-Giving Source” on the territory of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra National Reserve.

     Saints Cosmas and Damian are known for their selfless help to people - they healed illnesses, served their neighbors without reward, and became an example of true Christian love and mercy. Hegumen Euphimius drew attention to the example of Saints Cosmas and Damian, who helped everyone without exception, showing devotion that can overcome any difficulties.

    Hegumen Yevfimiy prayed to the patron saints, asking for their intercession, strength, and health. The memory of the unselfish love of Cosmas and Damian is becoming an important inspiration for modern society, which seeks to restore peace and tranquility. During the service, a special prayer was offered for Ukraine, for its victory, protection, and just peace.

    The service was attended by students of the 7th and 9th year groups and 11th year group of the 2nd year of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine, for whom this educational event has become a good tradition. In these difficult times, the sense of unity that comes from prayer is especially important for young people.
