A seminar was held at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine on the topic: “Preparation of a scientific article for the journal ”Ukrainian Journal of Veterinary Sciences”

On October 28, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in room 117, block G, educational building №12 of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the National University of Veterinary Medicine of Ukraine, a seminar for graduate students “Preparation of a scientific article for the journal ‘Ukrainian Journal of Veterinary Sciences’ was held.
The Dean of the Faculty Mykola Tsvilikhovsky welcomed the participants of the seminar and noted the importance of the event, which will help graduate students learn how to properly prepare a scientific article for the professional publication of the Ukrainian Journal of Veterinary Sciences.
The seminar was attended not only by graduate students, but also by undergraduates and faculty members. A total of 52 participants registered for the seminar.
At the beginning of the event, the editor-in-chief, Professor Victoria Gryshchenko, introduced the participants to general information about the history of the scientific publication, its current state and future plans, its indexing in 23 international scientometric databases, thematic areas and issues of academic integrity in article preparation.
In addition, the editor-in-chief drew the seminar's attention to the results of the expert evaluation of the international Index Copernicus database. In particular, over the past two years, the journal has received the maximum score of 100 points. Today it ranks 12th among Ukrainian journals in this database (out of 1300 titles) and 256th among 5390 world journals in this database. She also informed the participants of the seminar about the submission of an application for the inclusion of the Ukrainian Journal of Veterinary Sciences in the international scientometric database Web of Science in 2023, and in October 2024 - in the international database Scopus.
In the next report, Deputy Editor-in-Chief, Professor Svitlana Tkachuk introduced the seminar participants to the requirements for articles in terms of the content of each of the structural sections of the article, providing relevant examples and explaining how to avoid mistakes when writing them.
Mariia Kulida, Executive Secretary of the journal, reported on the technical requirements for the design of articles, elaborating on the mandatory UDC, the specifics of the wording of the publication title, the importance of providing full information about the authors in the metadata, the scope and design of each of the structural sections, including References, as well as the rules of citation.
The speakers analyzed the most common mistakes in writing articles using specific examples and shared their experience on how to avoid them. The seminar participants eagerly asked questions and received comprehensive answers from the event organizers.
Thus, during the seminar, the graduate students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine received useful advice that will help them not only to prepare a high-quality scientific article but also to properly format their dissertation work, avoiding mistakes.
