А meeting of the English club “Travelling around continents and countries”

     On the 22nd of April, at 3 p.m., in auditorium # 24, building #1 a meeting of the English club “Travelling around continents and countries” for an observation was held. It was prepared by the members of the club and students of the first, second, third courses of the Educational and Qualification level “Bachelor” in the subject area “Philology” at the Faculty of Humanities and Pedagogics of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine. Olena Babenko, Associate Professor in the Department of Romance and Germanic Languages and Translation, is a supervisor of the club.

    The theme of the meeting is “Spring and love in the world of English poetry and music”. The audience met some outstanding poets travelling in the imaginary Time Machine. The boys performed the roles of Geoffrey Chaucer, William Shakespeare, George Gordon Byron, Percy Bysshe Shelley, John Keats, Robert Burns. They told about authors’ life stories and their talented literary activities. Participants demonstrated brilliant skills in reciting sonnets, poems in English and Ukrainian. They also sang songs acapella and playing the guitar.
     Musical videos, decorations of the classroom, students’ costumes created the unforgettable holiday atmosphere. The scene from a tragedy “Romeo and Juliet” was performed to medieval music, candlelight, magic words about love and fidelity. No one was left untouched and the audience couldn't stop applauding.
     As a result both students and guests got a lot of new information and positive emotions.
