September 28, 2022

Department of Biochemistry and Animal Physiology named after Acad. M.F. Gulogo successfully applies HERMACAP to pigs to increase resistance and productivity. Contract No. 158-92 H was concluded with "Koshet" LLC for UAH 10,000. Also, relevant methodological recommendations have been developed.

Nanotechnologies are one of the most priority and promising areas of science and technology and are being actively implemented in animal husbandry. Nanotechnology is based on the manipulation of individual atoms and molecules. The prefix "nano" means, according to the SI system of units, a value to the minus ninth power, that is, 1 nanometer is one billion times less than a meter. The creation of nanoparticles with a size from 1 to 100 nm also causes the emergence of new fields of their application. Scientific and industrial research on the effectiveness of using nanostructured materials is very relevant. Nanomaterials and nanoparticles have a complex of physical, chemical, and biological properties that are radically different from the properties of the same substance in the form of solid phases or macroscopic dispersions and thereby allow changing the structure and composition of substances, creating fundamentally new materials, for example, biologically active feed additives and sorbents with a high degree of adsorption. Nanomaterials have a very large surface area (per unit mass), which increases their adsorption capacity, chemical reactivity, and catalytic properties. Therefore, they have the properties of highly effective adsorbents. The synthesis of minerals with a modified surface, the creation of substances with specified properties based on them, initiated a whole scientific direction in veterinary medicine.
Both in Ukraine and in the world, the problem of saturation of animal feed with vital trace elements is solved at the expense of inorganic salts of metals and such chelated compounds, which in terms of their composition and structure do not correspond to those necessary for animal cells and are only marginally absorbed by the latter. As a result, salts of inorganic metals accumulate in the environment, the ecological condition deteriorates, and the quality of food products is reduced.
Currently, the first nanomaterials that meet all the requirements for functional nanobiomaterials and have received the general name of nanoaquachelates have already been developed and tested in veterinary practice in Ukraine. According to their structure, these functional nanobiomaterials are complex compounds, in which nanoparticles electrically charged with a "minus" sign act as a complexing agent, i.e., functionalization of nanoparticles is carried out due to the presence of electric charges on their surface.
The possibility of obtaining just such nanoparticles is provided by erosion-explosive nanotechnology, which is based on a new physical effect in the field of high-energy concentration. Therefore, a promising direction in solving the problem of enriching animal feed with essential biometals is to use them exactly in the form in which they are present and function in the body - in the form of 6 carboxylates of food acids and, first, in the form of citrates, which, upon entering the cell, directly take participation in one of the main energy exchange cycles - the Krebs cycle. However, metal citrates obtained by classical chemical methods do not always meet purity requirements, and the technologies for their production are time-consuming and expensive.
Methods of synthesis of citrates of sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, and iron have been developed. Priority directions in nanotechnology are being implemented, because of which carboxylates of food acids of even such low-reactivity precious metals as Aurum and Argentum (citrates, succinates and ascorbates of silver and gold) and ultrapure carboxylates of basic food acids of biogenic metals (Zinc, Magnesium, Potassium, Manganese, Ferrum, Copper, Cobalt, Molybdenum Chromium, Selenium, Silicon, Germanium Vanadium)
The practical production of these carboxylates is carried out in two stages: 1. By dispersing high-purity granules of the corresponding metals with pulses of electric current in medical deionized water, an aqueous colloidal solution of nanoparticles of microelements is obtained; 2. Obtaining actual carboxylates of biogenic metals by the reaction of direct interaction of highly chemically active nanoparticles with food carboxylic acid. Since the number of reagents does not include other substances, and nanoparticles are fully involved in the chemical reaction of the formation of carboxylic acid salts, the result is products of high chemical purity and, what is especially important, that do not contain reactive elementary metal nanoparticles.
Since nanotechnologies were used in the production of these carboxylates, we call them "nanocarboxylates" and to a certain extent they can be formally classified as one of the groups of nanoaquachelates (they are chelating, contain water and are obtained through nanoparticles). The use of trace elements in veterinary medicine precisely in the form of bound compounds - nanocarboxylates, and not free nanoparticles of these trace elements removes one of the very important and, in our opinion, fully justified problems - possible risks to the health of animals and people from highly reactive and there are few controlled nanoparticles, the properties of which are constantly changing with the passage of time and changes in the environment.
The problem of micronutrient deficiency in farm animals remains extremely relevant. without which it is impossible to provide people with complete food. Therefore, the possibility of enriching food products for humans and fodder for farm animals with trace elements (environmentally clean, bioavailable!) is an unconditional real joint achievement of Ukrainian nanotechnologists and specialists in humane and veterinary medicine.
GERMAKAP nano-microelement feed mixture is a transparent, homogeneous liquid with a pale yellowish shade, containing germanium in the form of citrate - 1000 mg/l; zinc in the form of citrate - 1000 mg/l; silver in the form of citrate - 10 mg/l. Pharmacological properties. GERMAKAP is a biologically active feed nano-microelement mixture for poultry, agricultural and non-productive animals, it is made based on carboxylates of trace elements germanium, silver and zinc and contributes to the normalization of metabolism in the body, increasing the body's resistance. Germanium transports oxygen to the tissues of the body, promotes the induction of gamma interferons, the main areas of action of which at the level of the body are antiviral and antitumor protection; has a positive effect on the productivity and preservation of livestock, exhibits a high antioxidant and adaptogenic effect. The mixture is not toxic. Indications for use.
GERMAKAP nano-microelemental feed mixture is designed to increase non-specific resistance, productivity, intensity of growth and development of the organism; before changing feed, for the prevention of bacterial and viral diseases; correction of immune status for various diseases, strengthening of immunity; increasing the body's immune response to vaccination; after long-term use of antibiotics, protection of the body from poisoning, stress, adverse environmental conditions. The obtained results of scientific research confirm that the content of germanium nanocarboxylate helps to increase the productivity of animals and poultry, stimulates the growth and development of the body, has immunocorrelating properties in various diseases, increases the immune response of the animal body to the administration of vaccines, promotes the induction of gamma interferons, the main directions of which act on body level is antiviral and antitumor protection. In addition, it can be used for the prevention of bacterial and viral diseases, has a high antioxidant and adaptogenic effect when used for farm animals and poultry.
HERMACAP solution for injections is a transparent colorless solution. 100 ml of the drug contains active substances (mg): germanium (in the form of citrate) - 50.0; zinc (in the form of citrate) - 50.0. Pharmacological properties. The drug has high biological activity when administered parenterally, activates redox reactions, increases non-specific resistance of the body, normalizes water-salt and vitamin metabolism. Citrate forms of germanium stimulate hematopoietic processes, in combination with hemoglobin enhance erythropoiesis, transfer oxygen to body tissues and prevent the development of oxygen deficiency (similar to hemoglobin), have antifungal, antiviral and antibacterial properties, normalize and activate metabolism, restore the protein composition of blood, the immune system, and also increase average daily gains in live weight.
