Ukraine-Bulgaria international cooperation

On July 15, 2022, a friendly meeting was held between the head of the Department of Veterinary Hygiene named after Professor Skorokhodyk of the Ukrainian National University of Science and Technology, Maria Kucheruk, and the management of the University of Thrace (Stara Zagora, Bulgaria). In particular, talks were held with the dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Professor Todor Stoyanchev, and the general secretary of the university, Ani Zlataeva.

 

Colleagues presented information about universities to each other. They considered the structure of faculties and institutes, curricula, areas of scientific activity, and identified promising areas of cooperation.

 

The University of Thrace (link http://www.uni-sz.bg/) occupies the prestigious 5th place in the ranking of universities in Bulgaria and is accredited with a very high score of 9.20 (out of a maximum of 10) by the National Assessment and Accreditation Agency in Bulgaria with the right to teach bachelor's and master's degrees, as well as an educational and scientific doctor's degree in OKR. The higher school is in the process of obtaining European accreditation for the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.

 

It includes 9 structural subdivisions: agricultural faculty with an educational and experimental base, veterinary faculty with clinics, medical faculty with a university hospital, pedagogical faculty, economic faculty, engineering and technological faculty - Yambol, medical college - Stara Zagora, branch - Haskove, Department of Information and Teacher Training.

 

The University of Thrace - Stara Zagora was established in 1995 on the basis of the Higher Institute of Zootechnics and Veterinary Medicine (HIZVM) and the Higher Medical Institute (VMI) - Stara Zagora, with existing faculties and independent units. More than 8,200 students from Bulgaria and the world study at the university, about 600 highly qualified teachers, as well as invited lecturers from other universities of the country and the world.

 

The University of Thrace has its own modern educational base. The educational process and research activities are carried out in 20 educational buildings with modernly equipped lecture and computer classrooms, premises for holding seminars and practical classes, specialized offices, language offices. The material and technical base is constantly maintained and modernized. A total of 44 research, educational and diagnostic laboratories were created at the university and faculty level in the relevant scientific areas.

 

At the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Maria Kucheruk was given a tour of educational laboratories, classrooms, and visited the Museum of the History of Veterinary Medicine. Sincere gratitude to the chief assistant of the Department of Quality and Safety of Food Products and Veterinary Legislation, to the chief assistant, Dr. Oleksandr Daskalova, for an interesting story about the department of the faculty and the guided tour.

 

Students acquire practical skills at the university's educational and experimental base, in hospitals, veterinary clinics, as well as in companies and organizations with which the university has concluded cooperation agreements. There are usually up to 10 people in an academic group. Every year, the state allocates funding in the amount of 3,500 Euros for the scientific research of each graduate student. The laboratories are equipped with modern equipment, provided with reagents and consumables.
The Museum of the History of Veterinary Medicine, the authentic chair of the first dean of the faculty, Professor Stefan Angelov.

 

Assistant Nikolai Slavkov Tsindaev demonstrated the anatomy museum exhibits, wax, corrosion and laminated preparations, some of which are also used as educational preparations for students. The museum also presents archaeological finds of animal remains discovered during the excavations of the ancient sites of the city of Stra Zagora.

 

 

During Maria Kucheruk's visit to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Trakia University, she was invited as a guest to defend her dissertation for the PhD degree of Ivanka Asenova Lazarova of the Department of Food Quality and Safety and Veterinary Legislation.

 

 


Next week, after the rector of the university, Dobra Yarkov, returns from vacation, a cooperation agreement will be signed between the National University of Bioresources and Nature Management of Ukraine and Thrace University.
