Modern management science has developed and continues to develop with the active participation of scientists of the Department of Management named after Professor J. S. Zavadskyi of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine. For almost half a century, scientists of the department have remained the flagships of management science in general and agricultural management in particular. The long-term productive work of the famous national classics of management thought – Professors J. S. Zavadskyi and O. D. Hudzynskyi – provides grounds to assert the formation and development of a national scientific school of management on this basis. The research activities of its representatives are aimed at finding effective solutions and approaches to addressing pressing contemporary management problems, particularly in the agrarian sector of the economy and in the development of production management systems at domestic enterprises under conditions of business globalization.

In the 1970s, a doctoral program were opened at the department. Its first postgraduate students were: Assoc. Prof. Ye. S. Hnied, Assoc. Prof. V. O. Prokhorovych, Prof. A. M.
