The J. S. Zavadskiy Scientific School "Production Management"


The Scientific School: "Production Management" was established on the basis of the Department of Agricultural Production Management in the 1970s. Its founder and organizer was Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Joseph Stanislavovych Zavadskyi.

The main direction of the school is the scientific search for optimal management tools for adjusting production processes in agricultural and related sectors of the economy.

For 15 years, Professor J. S. Zavadskiy served as the coordinator of interdepartmental research on management and marketing at the National Agrarian University. For four years, he chaired a Specialized Academic Council for the defense of doctoral dissertations. He conducted research within state-funded and contract-based projects, including: "Development of Management and Marketing Issues at Various Levels of the Agro-Industrial Complex under Market Economy Conditions", "Development of Scientific Principles and Methodology for Reforming the Management System of the Agro-Industrial Complex in Accordance with Its Development Concept", and "Development of Organizational, Economic, and Technological Aspects of Scientific Management and Marketing in the Agro-Industrial Complex".


In the scientific works of J. S. Zavadskiy and his followers, theoretical and applied aspects of management were further developed, including the formation of an economic mechanism of management with a predominance of economic methods. His research revealed issues related to the division of labor in the field of management and the transformation of management functions at different levels of socio-economic systems under market conditions. Published scholarly works substantiate research findings concerning the development of decision theory, as well as the design of models and algorithms aimed at improving the quality and effectiveness of managerial decision-making.

Prominent representatives of the scientific school of J. S. (Doctor of Economics, Professor, Head of a Department at the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine), Halushko V. P. (Doctor of Economics, Professor, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine), Chornyi H. M. (Doctor of Economics, Professor, former Vice-Rector of Vinnytsia State Agrarian University), Dibrova A. D. Currently, the research activities of the Department of Management named after Professor J. S. Zavadskiy and the scientific school "Production Management" are focused on identifying optimal solutions and approaches to addressing pressing issues in the development of management systems within agro-industrial enterprises, as well as on advancing the theory and methodology of agricultural economic management, developing an instrumental managerial framework, and creating new concepts for the development of managerial relations in production systems.
