Under the supervision of the department performed bachelor and master degree students of the Faculty of Biotechnology and trains graduate students in specialty 03.00.12 ─ «Plant Physiology".

The main areas of research activity of the department are:
- Influence of growth regulators on induction flyuorystsentsiyi chlorophyll plants in water culture (unit "Fitotron");
- Change of photosynthetic activity of plants of different ecological groups in stressful conditions (heat-, drought-, hardiness);
- Physiological changes in plants Horse Chestnut Aesculus hippocastanum L. usual lesions on chestnut minuyuchoyu moth Cameraria ochridella Deschka et Dimic.;
- Physiological aspects of drought resistance of woody plants;
- Relationship shlyapochnye edible and medicinal mushrooms from different plant species in biocenoses, studying pathogens on fungi by environmental conditions and transformed biotechnological process development express - diagnostic methods for pathogens and fungi forming on the basis of biochemical fractions fungi and plants for biological agriculture ;
- Biodiesel, biogas from different laboratory cultures of algae.
