Staff of the Department of Epizootology and Veterinary Business Organisation among the participants of the working group of the Joint Biological Research Project on the distribution of ASFV in Ukraine
Within the framework of the Program for the Reduction of Biological Deterioration in Ukraine, a working group on education and information activities of the UP-10 Joint Biological Research Project held a meeting on “Regional assessment of the risk of transmission of African swine fever virus (ASFV) in wild fauna and through trade paths (farm-to-fork) in Ukraine, approaches to developing effective quarantine measures and strategies for controlling the ASFV”. The project was approved by the US Defense Threat Reduction Agency on December 19, 2018 and aims at developing effective national outreach strategies.
The meeting was held by SAFOSO representatives, Marco de Nardi and Violeta Munoz, and METABIOTA representatives, headed by David Mustra. Teachers of the Department of Epizootology and Veterinary Business Organization, Volodymyr Polishchuk, Vitaliy Nedosekov, Valeriya Yustynyuk and Iryna Makovska were invited to participate in the event.
Particular attention was paid to the definition of target groups, methods of influencing each group, creation of questionnaires and development of a survey method for better understanding of the impact of anthropogenic factors on spreading the ASF virus.
