Dissertation research

Institute of Plant Protection, Ukrainian Academy of Agrarian Sciences: doctoral program, 1998–2000; dissertation topic: “Ways to Improve the Effectiveness of Natural Enemies of Major Pea Pests in the Forest-Steppe Zone of Ukraine”; Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, 16.00.10 – Entomology, 2001;

Institute of Agroecology, Ukrainian Academy of Agrarian Sciences: doctoral program, 2007–2010; dissertation topic: “Ecological Characteristics of the Species Composition of Entomological Biodiversity in the Agricultural Landscapes of the Forest-Steppe Zone of Ukraine”; 03.00.16 – Ecology, 2011.

Scientific interests

Research Interests: Fundamental and applied research in ecology, entomology, and plant protection; the search for and development of biological, biotechnological, and microbiological methods for controlling the populations of harmful plant pests in agrocenoses and populated areas. Scientific foundations for the conservation and cataloging of entomological biodiversity in agrocenoses, urban ecosystems, and biotopes of the Kyiv Polissya region.

He is establishing his own research school, “Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Landscape Development,” which is characterized by a high level of scientific, theoretical, and practical expertise in the field of research on the assessment, ecology, and biology of entomological biodiversity in landscapes, as well as the development of methods for regulating the populations of harmful plant pests based on elements of biological plant protection. He has supervised 4 candidates of science and currently serves as the academic advisor to 2 master’s students and the scientific consultant to 2 doctoral students.

He has published 285 scientific works, including 7 monographs, 4 textbooks, 3 study guides, 2 reference dictionaries on agroecology, 1 Ukrainian-English dictionary of ecological terms, 8 patents for inventions, 7 DSTU/ ISO and DSTU standards, and 37 scientific and methodological recommendations. More than 40 printed works have been published abroad.
