International activities
Among the achievements of the department in recent years is participation in international projects and programs:
- GEF/UNEP Project “Capacity Development: Integrating Rio Convention Provisions into Ukraine's National Environmental Policy Framework” - a project dedicated to the integration of the provisions of the Rio Conventions into the national environmental policy;
- NASA Project “SCERIN: South-Central European Regional International Networking” (research on landscape changes in river deltas under the influence of economic activity and soil cover heterogeneity on plains with micro-depressions);
- GEF/UNEP project “Development and Alignment of National Action Programme to the UNCCD 10 Years Strategy and Preparation of the Fifth Reporting and Review process”, dedicated to the development and adoption of the National Action Plan to Combat Desertification (approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated March 30, 2016 No. 271-r);
- UNCCD/GM Land Degradation Neutrality Target Setting Support Programme (LDN-TSP), aimed at defining voluntary national targets for achieving a neutral level of land degradation in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals for 2015-2030 and international commitments undertaken by Ukraine in the context of implementing the concept of sustainable development.
On June 18-28, 2017, a training course for masters and postgraduates "Experimental Radioecology and Radiobiology" was held at our university, organized by the Institute of Agricultural Radiology (NUBiP of Ukraine), the Department of Radiobiology and Radioecology and the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (Norway) within the framework of the joint project "Joint Ukrainian-Norwegian Educational Program in the Field of Environmental Radioactivity".
The course was attended by young scientists from Ukraine, Norway, Sweden, Kenya, Ghana and Spain, who were carefully selected and had a unique opportunity to gain practical skills in working in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone and listen to lectures by leading scientists in the field of radioecology.
The lion's share of lectures and practical work was prepared by employees of our university, and among the specialists involved were also employees of the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (Ash), the Institute of Hydrobiology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (Kyiv), and the State Specialized Enterprise "Ecocenter" (Chernobyl).
