The Educational, Scientific and Production Laboratory of Horse Breeding was founded in October 1967 with the aim of improving the practical training of specialists, teaching students the basic skills of riding and equestrian sports. The stables keep 18 horses of various breeds - Arabian, Thoroughbred and Ukrainian riding horses, Oryol and Russian trotters, Tory, Latvian, Jutland and Shetland ponies: 2 stallions, 17 mares and 20 young horses of various ages, the sale of which gives 150-170 thousand UAH annually.
The efforts of the rector A.M. Zhadan, prof. K.B. Svechyn, prof. B.M. Hopka, O.O. Sakhnovska, I.V. and V.V. Nerodenki, P.M. Pavlenko, L.V. Synyavsky, O.V. Novikov, O.O. Gradovsky, O.Yu. Demyanovsky. Since 1988, the laboratory has been headed by A.V. Skabard, who organizes the purchase of feed and veterinary drugs, inventory and supplies, conducts horse training in overcoming obstacles and organizes horse riding among students. She is the senior trainer of Ukraine in show jumping and an international judge, the organizer of the Darling Cup competitions, which have been held since 1998 and are still the only ones in Ukraine dedicated to the memory of a specific horse.

Darling is a Latvian half-blood stallion brought to the training base at the age of 3. Later, he became the winner and prize-winner of the Ukrainian and Baltic show jumping championships, the prize-winner of the Volvo Cup stages and a number of other competitions.

A year before the presidential elections in Ukraine, Darling was given to L.M. Kravchuk, who won the race and became the head of our state. He visited his favorite several times, treated him to treats, and together with his granddaughter spent an hour or two communicating with him, other horses, ponies, and riding.

Darling died on August 8, 1997 at the age of 12 and was buried with traditional honors in the territory of the training stables near the competition ground, where he repeatedly performed and won.
The faculty's student athletes took part in the "Knowledge Day", which is held annually on September 1 and has become a university-wide holiday. One of them was attended by guests from Iowa State Agricultural University - Doug Kennelly and Peggy Miller.

The NUBiP Equestrian Sports Base of Ukraine hosts Open Dressage and Show Jumping Tournaments, the NUBiP Cup.
