About ERASMUS in Ukraine

    ERASMUS+ is the European Union Programme in the fields of education, training, youth and sport for the period 2014-2020 providing grants for a wide range of actions and activities. Its budget of €14.7 billion will provide opportunities for over 4 million Europeans to study, train, gain experience, and volunteer abroad.

   Erasmus + provides grants for a wide range of actions and activities in the fields of education, training, youth and sport. The programme gives opportunities to students, trainees, staff and volunteers to spend a period abroad to increase their skills and employability.


   Mobility projects include grants for study, research and teaching in the higher education sector for Students and Staff. Student credit mobility is defined as a limited period of study abroad in the framework of ongoing studies at a home institution for which credits are obtained. After the mobility completion, students return to their home institution to complete their studies. Each participating institution shall prepare and implement relevant mechanisms to enable study/ research/ teaching period recognition upon the beneficiary's return.

 

AIMS


   The aim of Erasmus+ is to contribute to the Europe 2020 strategy for growth, jobs, social equity and inclusion, as well as the aims of ET2020, the EU's strategic framework for education and training.
   Erasmus+ also aims to promote the sustainable development of its partners in the field of higher education, and contribute to achieving the objectives of the EU Youth Strategy.
   The International dimention of Erasmus+ opens cooperation between Programme Countries and Partner Countries.
   33 Programme Countries: 28 EU Member States; Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway; Turkey and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.


   Over 150 Partner Countries: Eastern Partnership countries - Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine - as recognized by International Law; Southern Mediterranean countries - Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Syria, Tunisia; Western Balkans - Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, Serbia; Russian Federation; Central Asia: Kazakstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan; Latin America; South Africa; ACP Countries; Industrialized Countries.


Credit Mobility for Students


   In the framework EU Erasmus+ Programme: Learning Mobility – Intenational Credit Mobility Action, students can go abroad for 3 to 12 months (including a complementary traineeship period, if planned). The same student may receive grants for studying or being trained abroad totalling up to 12 months maximum per each cycle of study:

 

  • During the first study cycle (Bachelor or equivalent) including the short-cycle (EQF levels 5 and 6)
  • During the second study cycle (Master or equivalent – EQF level 7) and
  • During the third cycle as doctoral candidate (Doctoral level or EQF level 8)


The duration of a traineeship by recent graduates counts towards the 12 months maximum of the cycle during which they apply for the traineeship.

Total number of scholarships won by Ukrainain Higher Education Institutions for 2015-2018: 4550.
