Opening of the laboratory "Differential use of agrochemical resources"

8 січня 2024 року

The end of the year is a good opportunity to start a new and much-needed project to improve the conditions and deepen the knowledge of our students as they learn new areas of precision agriculture. The Dushechkin Department of Agrochemistry and Quality of Crop Production, headed by its head Anatolii Bykin, initiated the opening of a laboratory for the differentiated use of agrochemical resources, which will provide laboratory classes in various disciplines under the only master's programme in Ukraine, Agrochemical Service in Precision Agriculture.

A wide range of products from leading manufacturers of precision farming equipment was presented to the guests, including a demonstration stand of one precision seeding section of the Horsh Maestro seeder from Astra, which allows students to make preliminary settings for precision seeding of various field crops. Syngenta provided high-quality seeds to demonstrate precision seeding. Trimble Ukraine provided a demonstration stand of the autopilot parallel driving system, which ensures precise movement of machinery and units, minimises overlapping of aisles and saves 5-10% of agrochemical resources. Also, the visitors of the event were presented with a wide range of microfertilisers manufactured by Biotech LTD and equipment for pre-sowing seed treatment, which allows for its demonstration. Students will use hand-held mineral fertiliser spreaders (Solo, ICL, Gardena) to determine the uniformity of fertiliser application.

The guests of the event were very interested and excited by the opportunity to taste different varieties of potatoes offered by the head of the department, Anatolii Bykin, and the staff of the department. Visitors evaluated the colour and consistency of the flesh, boilability, smell and taste. At the end of the event, the tasters selected their favourite potato variety.

So, let's get down to the business of training new specialists in precision agricultural production who will implement and multiply their professional experience in the Ukrainian agro-industrial complex!
