Erasmus+ staff training mobility experience at Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies
New skills and knowledge bring every single lecturer to the higher level in his or her professional carrier. The main purpose of the mobility program was to build professional network and improve my teaching skills.
Before the program, I used to participate in research project proposal writing with colleagues at LLU. Despite the fact we were not lucky to get funding, but we made good connections. So, that was one of the reasons I decided to apply for ERASMUS+ training mobility program at LLU.
I was able to strengthen connections with LLU colleagues. I visited many facilities which made the education process more practically oriented and allowed me to gain some ideas how to develop home university facilities.
I visited training and research facilities of Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies (Jelgava, Latvia). Among them were Laboratory of Food Technology, Laboratory of Biotechnology, Laboratory of Microbiology, and Clinic of Veterinary Medicine. All of the above-mentioned institutions were established using the costs of the EU projects. It proves the efficiency of university development through strengthening of material, technical and laboratory capacities, rather than reducing the number of universities.
The most challenging part of the preparation process was to proove I am that one who is able not only to get new knowledge but implement it in my my university.
I would advise such training opportunities to all the lecturers at my university in order to develop the university according to the world-class standards.
