State Enterprise "Ostersky military forestry", Chernihiv region
On April 8th, 2019 the Director of Global Fire Monitoring Centre (GFMC) Johann Goldammer and staff of Regional Eastern Europe Fire Monitoring Center of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine Sergiy Zibtsev and Vasyl Gumeniuk held a field training for the Representatives of forest protection of the State Enterprise "Ostersky Military Forestry" on using controlled burning.
The aim of training was to the help forest firefighters gain skills of using controlled burning as means of decreasing wildfire hazard and perfect theoretical knowledge and practical skills in forecasting the behavior and development of fire, considering weather and topographic conditions and characteristics of natural combustible material.
The field training was organized on the initiative of the Director of the State Enterprise “Ostersky Military Forestry” – Volodymyr Braiko, who believes theoretical knowledge and practical skills to be the basis of training of highly skilled personnel.
Representatives of the Institute of Forestry and Landscape Gardening of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine Nadia Oleksiychenko and Olga Tokareva attended the training as well.
