Call of NUBiP Delegation to Yale University and University of Vermont

During 22-29th January the delegation of National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine visited the Yale University and the University of Vermont in USA. The Delegation consisted of the Rector of the NUBiP of Ukraine, Academician Dmytro O. Melnychuk (the head of the delegation), Director of the Education and Research Institute of Forestry and Park Gardening Petro I. Lakyda, and the Assistant Professor of the Department of Forestry Serhiy V. Zibtsev. The aim of the call was signing the agreements about the cooperation between the universities, discussion of the ways of development and the content of common academic and educational programs in short- and long-term perspective and consideration of the possibility of creating international program Master of Forestry Sciences.
During the visit Academician Dmytro O. Melnychuk held a lecture the topic of which was “Transitions in Intellectual and Technological Needs in Ukraine: Impact on University and Ukraine’s Traditional Economic Strengths”. Moreover, the delegation participated in the round-table negotiation The Role of Leadership in the Development of Education and Science. Moreover, the members of the deputation gave an interview about the results of common project The Reduction of Forest Fire Chances in the Zone of Alienation to contribute to the preparation of the film depicting this problem.
The main gains of the visit are:
• Signing of the agreement about cooperation with the Department of Forestry and Ecological Research and the Global Institute of Sustainable Forestry of the Yale University;
• Signing of the agreement with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources of the University of Vermont.
In addition, the understanding of the possibility of signing the agreements between the NUBiP of Ukraine and the Management Department of the Yale University and between the NUBiP of Ukraine and the Department of Agriculture and Life Sciences of the University of Vermont was gained. The delegation negotiated with the Yale University the prospects of formation common regional International Scientific and Educational Centre in the NUBiP of Ukraine. Much attention was paid to the outlook of teachers and students’ exchange programs arrangements as well as conducting common research projects with the University of Vermont.
