Sofia Goncharova's work, under the scientific guidance of Svetlana Kostenko, received the highest honors at the Kaohsiung International Invention and Design EXPO 2025.
17 medals and two grand prizes: Ukrainian schoolchildren demonstrated high results at KIDE 2025
On December 4–7, Kaohsiung (Taiwan) hosted the Kaohsiung International Invention and Design EXPO (KIDE), one of Asia's leading platforms for presenting innovative developments and technical creativity. The event, which annually brings together about 500 participants from more than 30 countries, is organized by WIIPA and TIPPA and aims to promote modern technologies and expand opportunities for international cooperation.
Ukraine was represented at KIDE 2025 by 15 students—members of the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine—who won a total of 17 medals: 5 gold, 4 silver, and 6 bronze, as well as 2 special awards.
Sofia Goncharova, a student of Svitlana Kostenko, professor at the Department of Applied Biology, Animal Breeding and Genetics at the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine, received special recognition. The young scientist won the exhibition's highest awards — the Platinum Award and the Emerging Entrepreneur Potential Award. Her project, “Gammarus fossarum as a test object for studying environmental genotoxicity,” demonstrated a high level of scientific validity, innovative approaches, and significant potential for further applied and entrepreneurial implementation.
No less important is the role of scientific supervisor Svitlana Oleksiivna Kostenko, whose professional support, methodological guidance, and scientific mentorship have been an important component of the project's success. We express our sincere congratulations and deep respect for her high level of scientific training and contribution to the development of student science.
We sincerely congratulate Sofia Goncharova and her research supervisor Svetlana Oleksiivna on this outstanding achievement and wish them further scientific accomplishments and international success!
