History of the Department


In 1992, the Department of Folk Art and Culture was established at the Faculty of Public Professions of the Ukrainian State Agrarian University, headed by S.A. Semenovsky, at that time the Dean of the Faculty of Public Professions.

In May 2002, according to the decision of the Academic Council of the NAU, this department became part of the newly established Department of Culturology, the uniqueness of which to this day lies in the fact that, in addition to teachers of the disciplines of the cultural cycle traditional for university education in Ukraine, real artists-teachers of creative disciplines work fruitfully at it. Thus, the pride of the department is the famous poet-songwriter, Honored Artist of Ukraine, laureate of many awards, People's Artist of Ukraine Professor Vadym Kryshchenko, People's Artist of Ukraine, laureate of numerous art competitions Professor Roman Rudy, Honored Artist of Ukraine Associate Professor Viktor Kavun. At one time, the Department was staffed by People's Artist of Ukraine, laureate of the National Prize of Ukraine named after T.G. Shevchenko, soloist of the Metropolitan Opera (New York, 1996 – 2008) Volodymyr Grishko, People's Artist of Ukraine, Ambassador of Peace, Woman of the Third Millennium, holder of the title "The Most Beautiful Woman on Planet Earth (Mrs United Nations Earth)" Natalia Shelepnytska.

Under the leadership of such famous personalities and other, no less talented colleagues, the department operates the folk song and dance ensemble "Kolos", the folk theater "Berezil", the folk studio of academic, variety and jazz singing, the folk girls' vocal ensemble "Octava", the folk men's vocal ensemble "Amero", the folk art studio "7shodynok", the ballroom dance ensemble "Charivnist", the choreographic ensemble "Suzir'ya rytmiv", the trio "ToNika". NUBiP students have the opportunity to get involved in the beautiful and in the musical living room "Golden Lyre", the circle of theater lovers "Melpomene", the folk art studio "Holosiivska Palette", the circles "Decorative Floristry", "Charismatic Orator", "The Art of Serving", the press studio "Ideal", the art studio "Wool Dreams".

At different times, the department was headed by: Candidate of Philological Sciences Associate Professor T.B. Hrytsenko (2002-2009), Doctor of Philosophy O.Yu. Pavlova (2009-2011), Candidate of Philosophy T.M. Mysiura.

Since 2016, the department has been headed by Doctor of Philosophy Professor, Academician of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences of Higher Education I.Z. Maydanyuk.

Semenovsky Stanislav Andriyovych

Associate Professor of the Department of Cultural Studies, Honored Worker of Culture of Ukraine,

Artistic Director of the Folk Song and Dance Ensemble "Kolos"

Graduated from Odessa State Pedagogical Institute named after K.D. Ushinsky with a degree in "music and singing" in 1974. Worked at NUBiP of Ukraine since 1975. He held the positions of Dean of the Faculty of Public Professions, Head of the Department of Artistic Creativity and Culture, Head of the Folk Art Department of the Department of Cultural Studies. Since 1986, he has led the folk song and dance ensemble "Kolos", carried out extensive organizational, musical and pedagogical educational and concert and performing activities. He was one of the founders and organizers of large-scale cultural, educational and artistic events, such as the International Festival of Artistic Creativity "Holosiivska Spring" and the holiday "Knowledge Day", which were held with great success at NUBiP of Ukraine for more than 30 years. Died in 2014.


Hrytsenko Tetyana Borisovna

Graduated from Odesa State University named after Mechnikov, majoring in "Ukrainian philology". Candidate of philological sciences, associate professor, author of more than 100 scientific works.


Pavlova Olena Yuryivna

In 2000, she graduated from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv with a degree in Philosophy, and received the qualification of a philosopher and teacher of philosophical disciplines.

Since 2002, she has worked as an assistant at the Department of Philosophy of the National Agrarian University, and in 2003, she defended her PhD thesis on the topic “Imagination as a Philosophical and Anthropological Category” with a degree in Philosophical Anthropology, Philosophy of Culture at Taras Shevchenko University of Kyiv.

In 2007, she received a diploma of associate professor of the Department of Philosophy of the National Agrarian University, on June 12, 2009 she defended her doctoral dissertation on the topic "Aesthetic Experience as an Ontological Problem" at Taras Shevchenko University of Kyiv in the specialty 09.00.08 - aesthetics, from 2009 to 2011 she worked as the head of the Department of Culturology of the National University of Life Resources and Environmental Management of Ukraine.

Pavlova O.Yu. has over 200 scientific publications, over 20 teaching aids and methodological recommendations, several monographs.

Mysiura Tetyana Mykhailivna

Graduated from the Faculty of Automation of Agricultural Production of the Ukrainian Agricultural Academy (1976-1982) and the correspondence department of the Faculty of Economics of the National Agrarian University (1991-1996), where she received her second higher education.
She worked at the NUBiP of Ukraine since 1989 - as a leading specialist of the dean's office for work with foreign students, a leading specialist of the international department, since 2002 - as a leading specialist and (part-time) senior lecturer of the Department of Cultural Studies. After defending her dissertation on the topic "The City as a Subject of Philosophical and Culturological Reflection" in the specialty "Philosophical Anthropology and Philosophy of Culture", she moved to the position of senior lecturer, and since 2011 she has served as the head of the Department of Cultural Studies.
She has about 50 scientific publications. She taught the following subjects: history of Ukrainian culture, family and household culture, and home economics. She repeatedly improved her teaching skills at the Institute of Postgraduate Education of the National University of Life Sciences of Ukraine. For her conscientious work, she was awarded the Certificate of Honor of the National University of Life Sciences of Ukraine.
