Visit of Head of National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine to Humboldt University of Berlin (Germany)

            January 20-23, 2013, delegation of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine, together with the Head of the University, Academician Dmytro O. Melnychuk visited the Humboldt-Universität and participated in the activities devoted to “Grüne Woche”.

For reference: The history of cooperation between the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine and the Humboldt-Universität started in 1995. This cooperation resulted in mutual acknowledgement of educational systems, development of double diplomas programmes, implementation of common education and research projects, participation in various conferences, exhibitions and symposia, conducting student and teacher exchange programmes etc.

During the visit Rector Dmytro O. Melnychuk together with Vice President for Academic and International Affairs, Professor, Michael Kämper-van den Boogaart discussed future cooperation between the universities and exchanged information on preparation of joint projects in the field of animal husbandry.

Head of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine also met with the Dean of Faculty of Agriculture and Horticulture, Professor, F. Ellmer, the former Dean of Faculty of Agriculture and Horticulture, Honoured Professor of NUBiP  of Ukraine,  E. Lindemann, the Head of Department of Crop and Animal Sciences, Honoured Professor of NUBiP of Ukraine, O. Kaufmann and Professor M. Böhme.

The parties discussed further cooperation between the universities for 2013-2014. Main issues were as following:

- development of joint work plans and exchange programs for masters, graduate students and teachers;

-  preparation of training projects on improving the methods of teaching;

- further development of the investment project "Sustainable Development of Use of Natural Resources";

- development and possibility of cooperation in the field of GIS technologies;

- prospects of establishing Ukrainian-German Centre for German agricultural machinery and technologies.

During “Grüne Woche” members of the delegation had an opportunity to get acquainted with the advanced experience of farms and enterprises from all over the world working in the field of growing and processing agricultural goods.

It was agreed that the Humboldt-Universität will participate at the International Scientific Conference “Earth Bioresources and Environmental Biosafety: Challenges and Opportunities” dedicated to the 115th anniversary of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine and the 15th anniversary of the Global Consortium of Higher Education and Research for Agriculture (GCHERA), which will take place on November 4-6, 2013, at NUBiP of Ukraine.
