The project “Utilizing Stream Waters in the Suppression of Forest Fires with the Help of New Technologies” with the acronym “Streams-2-SUPPRESS-Fires”

Project started on April 1st 2013. The total duration of the project will be 24 months.

The lead partner is Kavala Institute of Technology from Greece. Five more institutions from the Black Sea Region are involved. Specifically, the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of UkraineArtvin Coruh University from Turkey, Braila Prefecture from Romania, Eco-TIRAS International Association of River Keepers from Republic of Moldova, and Zikatar Environmental Center from Armenia.

Its purpose is to develop a holistic and complete approach for fire suppression system for the Black Sea Region and to demonstrate its implementation on 6 pilot areas all over the region. This will be achieved by promoting research and innovation in the field of fire suppression to protect natural areas by utilizing new technologies and stream waters sustainably.
