The Delegation of the Embassy of Japan in Ukraine Visited NULES of Ukraine
On April 23, 2014 the representatives of the Embassy of Japan in Ukraine visited NULES of Ukraine. The delegation included Attaché Hidechika Nakamura and Second Secretary Keiichi Sasaki.
During the meeting the participants discussed continuation of cooperation between Ukraine and Japan, exchange of students, graduate students and professionals in the fields of radiobiology, banking and finance, biotechnology, food quality and safety and forestry. Over the past few years, 12 university students and graduate students studied at the Tokyo University of Agriculture.
Particularly highlighted was importance of active cooperation between Japan scientists and the scientists of the Ukrainian Research Institute of Agricultural Radiology of NULES of Ukraine headed by V.O. Kashparov. After the accident at the Fukushima nuclear power plant, Mr Kashparov organised the expert group whose members share the experience gained in the course of study of the consequences of the Chernobyl accident with their Japanese counterparts.
During the visit, the participants planted sakura trees in the memory of Professor Akim Fudzhymoto (1950-2014), former Head of the Centre of International Programs of Tokyo University of Agriculture, who greatly promoted cooperation with NULES of Ukraine. Since 2004, each year two students of NULES of Ukraine by the results of the contest go to study at the Department of Management of Biobusiness and Information of the Faculty of International Agriculture and Food Sciences of TUA at the expense of Tokyo University.
The representatives of the Embassy of Japan visited University Building No 3 damaged by the fire and together with the Ukrainian side discussed issues connected with reconstruction of the main administrative building of NULES of Ukraine
