Linas Daubaras, president of the Lithuanian Tour Guides' Union, delivered a lecture on tourism perspectives at NUBiP of Ukraine

      Representative of Kaunas Forestry and Environmental Engineering University of Applied Sciences, President of the Lithuanian Tour Guides' Union, Linas Daubaras, visited NUBiP of Ukraine on March 27, 2019. Linas Daubaras delivered an open lecture on “Nature tourism in Lithuania. Ideas for Ukraine?” at the Education and Research Institute of Forestry and Landscape-Park Management.

      The lecture was attended by the employees of the Education and Research Institute of Forestry and Landscape-Park Management and the Department of Agricultural Consulting and Tourism.

      In 2018, tourism ranked 3rd in terms of economic activity and is growing almost 2 times faster compared to the IT sector. The lecture caused a lively discussion among the audience. Prospects of tourism development in Ukraine and its assessment by international organizations and experts were of particular interest. According to the Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Index, Ukraine ranks 88th in the ranking, which indicates good prospects for further development of this industry. The lecturer described various tourism types popular now in Lithuania. Special attention was devoted to the prospects of the forest sector for tourism and the challenges faced by forestry workers in the world.

      Linas Daubaras visited NUBiP Botanical Garden and O.O. Salganskyy Museum of Forest Animals and Birds. The scientist was pleasantly impressed by the exposition and material and technical resources for conducting practical classes.
