Teachers and students of NUBiP of Ukraine took part in the VII Young Researchers’ Conference of the Network of Aquaculture Centers of Central-Eastern Europe (NACEE)

     On December 11-14, 2018, teachers and students of the Faculty of Livestock Raising and Water Bioresources visited the Belarusian State Agricultural Academy (Gorki). Associate Professor of the Department of Hydrobiology and Ichthyology, Nataliya Martsenyuk, and Associate Professor of the Department of Aquaculture, Alevtyna Bazayeva, together with the 2nd-year students of the specialty “Water Bioresources and Aquaculture” Yuriy Boyko and Volodymyr Koretskyy took part in the VII Young Researchers’ Conference of the Network of Aquaculture Centers of Central-Eastern Europe (NACEE). Participants of the conference were greeted by the Rector of the Academy, Pavlo Saskevich, and NACEE Technical Secretary, Szvetlana Lengyel.

    Associate Professor of the Department of Aquaculture, Alevtyna Bazayeva was appointed as a representative of Ukraine to the Conference Presidium. She delivered a report on the exploitation and reconstruction of hydraulic engineering structures used in fish farming.

    The conference was held in two languages (English and Russian). Participants had the opportunity to communicate with colleagues from Lithuania, Hungary, Belarus and Poland.

    Topics of the reports included vitrification of sex fish products, importance of fish ladders for migratory fish, biological peculiarities in the cultivation of Australian red claw crayfish (Cherax quadricarinatus), prospects for the cultivation of African sharptooth catfish (Clarias gariepinus), use of aquaponic systems in fish farming. Our students eagerly participated in scientific discussions. 

    Students of the Faculty of Livestock Raising and Water Bioresources, Yuriy Boyko and Volodymyr Koretskyy (academic adviser - Associate Professor Nataliya Martsenyuk) duly performed at the conference and demonstrated high level of knowledge. It was repeatedly mentioned by the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Conference, Head of the Department of Ichthyology and Fish Farming, Mykola Barulin.

    In addition, participants of the conference had the opportunity to visit the Department of Ichthyology and Fish Farming, Lokhva Industrial Trout Fish Farm, and the Belarusian State Agricultural Academy.
