Six winners of Agro 2019 from NUBiP of Ukraine will go to SIMA 2019 in Paris
This year, the number of participants and universities that took part in Agro 2019 competition organised by Borys Kolesnikov Foundation, has increased significantly. The competition is held for the second time at NUBiP of Ukraine. Presented projects were more thorough than last year, therefore it was extremely difficult for the organizers to determine the winners.
It is hugely pleasant that 6 of 30 winners represent NUBiP of Ukraine. Stanislav Nikolayenko congratulated the winners and highlighted how proud he was that such bright people study at NUBiP of Ukraine. The winners will be able to get acquainted with the latest achievements of scientists and producers of the agrarian sector at the exhibition in Paris, and use this knowledge in their future professional development.
We are glad to present you the students of NUBiP of Ukraine, who won AGRO 2019.
One of the winners is Oleg Zagorodniy, the fourth-year student of the Agrobiological Faculty. He has already won the prize last year, and his project “Changing the terms of sowing crops as a way to intensify crop production” is a refined continuation of the last year’s work.
Iryna Stetsenko is this year's graduate student of the Agrobiological Faculty. She is currently working as an agronomist at Krynytsya family-owned private enterprise and links her professional future with farming. Her project is devoted to saffron, a culture that is not very common in Ukraine and was traditionally replaced by marigolds (Tagetes). Iryna began to distribute Persian exotic plant on Ukrainian fields. She is convinced that it is a fairly profitable business: with a minimum of areas involved, one can get a good profit.
Master student of the Agrobiological Faculty, Olexander Derevyanko, won the competition with the project “Modern heating system for fruit crops”. Young scientist suggests using burning paraffin buckets in order to protect gardens from unexpected frosts. Another representative of this faculty, Bohdan Mozgovyy, prepared a successful project “Alternative fuels in agriculture” that was highly assessed by the jury.
Representative of the Faculty of Plant Protection, Biotechnology and Ecology, Lilia Dudka, suggested the project on creating a consulting company with a biotechnological laboratory for small and medium-sized farmer enterprizes. The purpose of such a company is to boost farmers' cooperatives.
Volodymyr Solodovnykov from the Faculty of Livestock Raising and Water Bioresources chose a very topical issue - the problem of natural pollution with polyethylene packages. National Geographic magazine devoted an entire issue to the same topic: the photos of plastic pollution are striking. Volodymyr suggested to produce bio-packages that dissolve in hot water in two minutes.
These 6 bright scientists and 24 counterparts from other universities will attend SIMA 2019 international exhibition of agricultural machinery and livestock farming in Paris (February 2019).
The organizers of Agro 2019 expressed their gratitude to Stanislav Nikolayenko for his help with the organization of the competition.
