Japan needs Advice from Ukrainian Radiologists

On the 30th -31st of January, 2012, The Head of the Research Institute of Agricultural Radiology of National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine V. O. Kashparov together with delegation of Ukrainian radiologists recently visited Tokyo University where the delegate symposium of more than 150 radiologists took place. Being invited by the Society of Mechanical Engineers of Japan and by the Research Association of Nuclear Safety, O. V. Kashparov presented the report concerning the national rehabilitation experience of farmlands and woodlands affected by radioactive contamination. The report aroused lively interest among Japanese counterparts.

Moreover, Ukrainian delegation met with members of the Independent Commission on investigation of accident at Fukushima 1 nuclear power plant. The meeting took place in the Parliament of Japan. Japanese scientists expressed their gratitude to Ukrainian counterparts for provided help and readiness for cooperation with Japanese research institutes aimed at common research work and professional trainings.

Current call of Ukrainian radiologists to Japan is the first step on the way to close cooperation which already resulted in the outline of agreement between Japanese and Ukrainian governments about further research and experts’ exchange programs.
