May 29, 2018

Tetiana Ivanova, an associate professor of the department of eco bio technologies and bio diversity, and Oleksandr Kolodiazhnyi, an assistant professor of the department of molecular biology, micro biology and bio safety, have been awarded with the prize of Verhovna Rada of Ukraine for the most talented young scientists in the field of basic and applied research, scientific and technological development. Their work «The development of molecular and biological wastes in the research of metagenome of soils of Ukraine». It happened on the eve of University Day and the speaker of the Parliament, Andrii Parubii, noted this event.

We had a brief talk with laureates.

– Oleksandre, what does your research aim at?
     – It is a full study of bio diversity such as the structure and the texture of microbe biome of soils. We have found out important taxonomic units which can become the basis of the formation of resistant highly productive agro eco systems. The results of our work can be used as biological potential and to create effective systems between science and production. So, it is applicable and thus important and promising.

– Tetiano, did you expect to be awarded with the prize of Verhovna Rada?
     – Of course. The process of applying for some grand of prize always aims at getting some award. But when we saw that the number of applications was 64, we were worried a bit because our rivals were also very strong. After we passed two selection stages, we got aware that we did it! I remember December 18 because it is my Birthday. And the ceremony of awarding coincided with the birthday of our university! This is a fateful coincidence of dates in my life.
