Celebration of 197th birthday anniversary of Taras Shevchenko

On March 10, 2011 the 197th birthday anniversary of Taras Shevchenko was celebrated at National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine. Taras Shevchenko is a genius poet, great son of Ukraine, whose never fading, riddled with self-sacrificing love for the motherland poetic word is the holder of the best and most cherished thoughts, for more than half a century evokes a sense of pride, enriches vital force, captures the beauty, the folk wisdom.

University administration, students and teachers took part in the celebration. Shevchenko's greatness and power of the spirit of national genius revealed in their performances artistic groups and artists of the university. In a framework of the events devoted to the Kobzar’s birthday the opening ceremony of XXXI International festival “Golosiivska vesna – 2011” was held. The team of students and teachers of NUBiP of Ukraine gave flowers to the monument of the great poet.
