The NULES of Ukraine successfully launched the Second International Summer School «Achievements of Science for Sustainable Development»

July 20, 2016

On July 19, 2016 II International summer school was launched at the NULES of Ukraine. It was preceded by paintaking work such as long talks with partners, the coordination of the curriculum, the competitive selection of participants, special preparation of trainers for the multi-thematic course, the search of sponsors and enthusiasts under the motto "Sustainable development for the safety of life".

A new project with an awesome name "International Summer School" was first held at Separate Subdivision "Zalishchyky Agricultural College" last year. This year it was decided to organize the event both in Kyiv and at our foreign partner- university, Wroclaw Agricultural University for which this even is also novice. We hope this this summer school will become a tradition.
Thus a large group of foreign students, graduate students, young and experienced professors (22 people) came to our University earlier this week to participate in the Second International Summer School with the eloquent name “Achievements of Science for sustainable development”.

The ambitious goal of the event is to make a consumer lifestyle eco-friendly. Last year sponsors of the summer school were global corporations Coca-Cola and Senhenta. This year the summer school was supported by Bayer, and all coffee breaks were provided by shop network "Sushi WOK».

On the first day the administration of the university and honored guests greeted participants of the event.

Later that day the participants learnt about academic management, the curriculum, practical classes and rules for group projects.

The first lecture "Meat is civilization, environment and animals" which was held by Professor Piotr Nowakowski, Wroclaw Natural University presented interesting and surprising facts about prospects of Ukraine concerning organic livestock production, especially meat and dairy products. Earlier we had signed an agreement on joint master programs of specialty "Production of organic dairy products" with this Polish higher school. So all our activities and negotiations with foreign partners- universities are a systematic work which is aimed at promoting cooperation and self-improvement in order to increase the attractiveness of the NULES of Ukraine for prospective students.

There are 4 more busy days of doing a rather intensive program of Ukrainian summer school, which includes lectures, on-site workshops, an interesting and varied cultural program. Foreign teachers will be able to make friends, socialize and share experiences with colleagues from different departments at the NULES of Ukraine, namely Faculty of Land Management, Institute of Forestry and Landscape Architecture, Botanical Garden and Boyarka forest station. Most lecturers of this summer school are young scientific and teaching staff who have the experience of international projects, publications in research journals.

But the most important aspect of this summer school is that it providess formal and informal communication between young people thus building genuine partnerships for the future exchange of cultural traditions and European values.

All present were willing to cooperate and that inspires us to further search for talented students and caring teaching staff, their support and the promotion of international cooperation.
