BFH-HAFL in cooperation with the Institute of Forestry and Landscape-Park Management of NUBIP held the first seminar on Close to Nature Silviculture with Marteloscope

    The Faculty of Agricultural, Forestry and Food Sciences (HAFL) of the Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH) in cooperation with the Education and Research Institute of Forestry and Landscape-Park Management (ERI FLPM) of NULES of Ukraine held the first seminar on Swiss forestry, the use of the “Marteloscope” system and the “Sylvotheque” software product, as well as further cooperation in this area between HAFL and ERI FLPM.

     

    Prof. Dr. Ute Seeling, Director of the Faculty of Agricultural, Forestry and Food Sciences (HAFL) at the Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH), and Prof. Dr. Petro Lakyda took part in the official opening ceremony and greetings.

     During the seminar, Prof. Dr. Bernhard Pauli, head of Forest Science Division and Professor for Forest Economics at BFH-HAFL, presented information on Swiss forestry.

     Prof. Dr. Christian Rosset, Professor for Silviculture and Forest Planning at BFH-HAFL, presented a report on close-to-nature forestry and the use of the “Marteloscope” in Switzerland. Christian Rosset also presented a software product developed under his leadership at HAFL (BFH) – “Sylvotheque” (https://martelage.sylvotheque.ch/).

     The workshop was attended by representatives, practitioners and scientists from different regions and organizations: National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine, Ukrainian National Forestry University, NGO "Forza", UkrRIMF, URIFFM, WWF-Ukraine, etc. After the presentation of the reports, the participants discussed the possibilities of cooperation between HAFL and Ukrainian forestry partners within the martelage.sylvotheque.ch project.

  

    Switzerland stands in solidarity with other European countries and supports Ukraine, Ukrainian scientists, students and citizens in the difficult times of russia's war against Ukraine. Cooperation of the Ukrainian scientific and educational community with educational and research institutions in Switzerland and other European countries is an important part of Ukraine's European integration.
