Summarizing the Results of the International Ukrainian-Polish Workshop on Training Specialists of Agronomic and Horticultural Industries

A round table discussion devoted to the results of the International Ukrainian-Polish Educational and Methodical Workshop conducted at the University of Agriculture in Cracow (June 2-8, 2014) was held on June 23, 2014 at the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine as a part of the meeting of the Scientific Council of the Education and Research Institute of Plant Science, Environment and Biotechnology.


The organizers and participants of the workshop were teachers of the Education and Research Institute of Continuing Education and the Education and Research Institute of Plant Science, Environment and Biotechnology. The aim of the workshop was to study the experience of training specialists of agronomic and horticultural industry at the University of Agriculture in Krakow.

The opening speech was delivered by the Head of the Education and Research Institute of Plant Science, Environment and Biotechnology, Grygoriy I. Demydas. He presented the achievements in cooperation with the Department of Horticulture of the University of Agriculture in Krakow. The areas of cooperation include student exchange programmes aimed at practical training and learning new technologies in plant science; training of scientific and pedagogical staff; participation in joint projects within the framework of the European program “Horizon 2020”; preparation of joint publications in scientific journals included into European and world scientific and metric databases.

The Dean of the Department of Plant Protection, Oksana O. Sykalo, the Dean of the Department of Ecology and Sustainable Development, Julia V. Rybalko, and the Head of the Department of Horticulture, Borys M. Mazur presented the reports summarizing the results of the workshop.

 

The representative of the Education and Research Institute of Continuing Education, Nataliya A. Demeshkant, delivered the report devoted to the scientific and didactic potential of the University of Agriculture in Krakow. She highlighted the benefits of promoting cooperation with foreign universities that have considerable experience in training highly qualified specialists of agricultural sector.

 

The Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Activities and University Development, Sergiy M. Kvasha, drew the conclusions of the round table discussion. He supported strengthening of cooperation with the University of Agriculture in Krakow and pointed out the need for active development of the Education and Research Institute of Plant Science, Environment and Biotechnology that would contribute to the positive image of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine on the international arena.
