The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Argentine Republic to Ukraine Elena Leticia Teresa Mikusinski visited NUBiP of Ukraine
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Argentine Republic to Ukraine Elena Leticia Teresa Mikusinski visited NUBiP of Ukraine on October 26, 2021. The visit was devoted to the implementation of the goals of the Center for the Transfer of Argentine Agricultural Technologies. The Ambassador and her Ukrainian counterparts, including the Ukrainian Club of Agrarian Business, have supported the Center functioning for the past few years.
Now this international project is reaching the finish line in legal terms. On the proposal and recommendation of the President of Ukraine in 2005-2010 Viktor Yushchenko, the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine also participated in this project.
The Ambassador upholds this project in Ukraine, knowing the persistence and diligence of Ukrainians. After all, Argentina is a country of emigrants and a significant part of the country’s population is made up of Ukrainians. The lion's share of the famous Argentine tea - mate - is grown by Ukrainian families in the fourth generation.
‘Who would we like to develop a partner relationship with at this stage?’ Victor Yushchenko comments. ‘With Argentina and Canada - countries, where Ukrainians have strong roots. It is necessary to develop the infrastructure of the agricultural market and the grain exchange. After all, the resource that will determine world politics for the next quarter of a century is food, not energy. In this process, Argentine technologies are very important, as they can reduce the cost of production by thirty percent. It is quintessential that these technologies reach Ukrainian farmers. Another positive aspect is Argentina's image, which is positively perceived all over Ukraine.’
Mrs Elena Leticia Teresa Mikusinski calls cooperation with NUBiP of Ukraine easy and effective. ‘Practical implementation of the project depends on two aspects - research and practical experiments in the fields of NUBiP of Ukraine and other Ukrainian partners,’ she said.
Rector Stanislav Nikolayenko presented the university and its capacities in scientific and production aspects. ‘We have a lot to offer. There is land and professionals, who can work on it.’ He expressed interest in joint research and readiness to implement another component of such cooperation - professional training and retraining.
During the conversation, the parties identified the persons responsible for further bilateral cooperation - Vice-Rector Vadym Tkachuk and Vice-Rector Vadym Kondratyuk. A road map for this cooperation will be developed in the near future.
Deans of the technological faculties were invited to the meeting, as their teams will be directly involved in this work. Thus, Dean of the Agrobilogical Faculty, Oksana Tonkha, reminded that Ukrainian agricultural sector uses a significant amount of Argentine equipment and technologies.
