Rector Vadym Tkachuk paid a working visit to Wageningen University (Netherlands)
March 7, 2025
On March 6, 2025, the rector of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine (NUBiP of Ukraine), Professor Vadym TKACHUK, together with the University delegation consisting of the vice-rector for scientific and pedagogical work and international activities Olexandr LABENKO and associate professor of the Department of AgroSphere ecology and Environmental Control Vita STROKAL, visited the Wageningen University and Research Center (WUR, the Netherlands).

The program of the first day was rich and included an introduction to the non-volatile infrastructure of the campus, as well as a visit to the Knowledge Transfer Center (CVI), which plays a key role in spreading innovations in the field of Agricultural Sciences.
During the sightseeing tour, representatives of WUR acquainted the delegation of NUBiP with the University's state-of-the-art energy supply system, which is based on renewable energy sources and advanced energy efficiency technologies. The WUR campus is non-volatile thanks to the use of solar panels, a heat recovery system, and unique energy conservation techniques. Representatives of the University shared their experience in managing energy resources and strategic planning for the sustainable development of educational institutions.

Special attention should be paid to the demonstration of smart power grids that allow efficient management of energy consumption in real time. This approach can be adapted to Ukrainian universities to reduce dependence on traditional energy resources.
The next key point of the visit was a visit to the «Soil museum» and the Knowledge Transfer Center (CVI), where the delegation was received by the program director Moritz BURGERING. Participants were presented with a model of the Center's work aimed at effective exchange of scientific achievements among the University, business and government agencies.

Special attention was paid to the issues of supporting startups in the field of agricultural technologies. Representatives of StartLife, the WUR startup Cluster, shared successful cases of commercialization of scientific developments and creation of innovative enterprises. This experience can be useful for NUBIP in developing their own initiatives to support student startups and technological innovations.
Visit to Wageningen University demonstrated the importance of an integrated approach to energy efficiency and knowledge transfer as components of successful university development. The experience gained would become the basis for further cooperation between NUBiP and WUR in the areas of sustainable development, educational innovation and support for entrepreneurial initiatives among students and faculty.
