Integration of production and science is the key to success

February 1, 2025
   Scientists from the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine co-organised a seminar initiated by UAPK LLC, KUHN, RAGT Semences for agronomists, mechanical engineers and other specialists from Kernel, MHP, Agroregions and a number of other agricultural holdings.

The seminar successfully combined science and practice, agronomists and mechanical engineers; physiology, crop morphology and, especially, information on the morphology and development of the root system with modern technology, the effective use of which is impossible without this knowledge.

This is a rather successful integrated approach, which is rarely used, in terms of combining interests and knowledge for specialists of different specialities, but of the same industry. For a large community of chief agronomists, mechanical engineers and all those interested in obtaining information on new tillage equipment and the theoretical component of the efficiency of using equipment, taking into account the morphological and physiological characteristics of the root system of corn, sunflower, soybeans and the formation of crop productivity, two blocks of scientific and practical reports were offered.

Scientists from the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine presented scientific reports: Volodymyr MOKRIENKO "Physiology of the Corn Root System: How to Ensure a Stable Yield" and "Influence of Sunflower Root System Physiology on Stability and Productivity"; Svitlana KALENSKA "Physiology of the Soybean Root System: How to ensure a stable harvest"; Mykola PATYKI "Smart agroengineering of biological systems"; Nataliia PASICHNIK, Ilya MARCHUK, Oleg GRYSHCHENKO "Nutrition system as an element of building healthy soil (corn, sunflower, soybean)".

Mechanisms of root nutrition of crops, how to take into account the characteristics of different soils, weather conditions, chemical properties of fertilisers - this is an incomplete list of topical issues that were covered in the reports of the department's scientists. Participation in the seminar was held in a very successful symbiosis with plant specialists, and together they managed to show the complex and multifaceted topic of the formation and activity of the plant root system.

A number of reports related to modern technical equipment for soil cultivation were also presented:

  • Yuriy URDA "Building healthy soil. KUHN EXCELLERATOR. Features and benefits";
  • Dmytro PRILUKA "Building healthy soil. Deep loosening. KUHN IN-LINE RIPPER";
  • Viacheslav KRASNIUK "Building healthy soil. Strip tillage. KUHN GLADIATOR";
  • Nazar Kotsyubynskyi "Influence of wear of working bodies on the quality of tillage".
  •

   Close cooperation with companies that present new equipment, agricultural enterprises, science and education is the key to efficient production, training and practice-oriented science and education.
