History
The Department of Animal Feeding and Fodder Technology, named after Pavlo Pshenychna, originates from the Department of Zootechnics of the Agricultural Department of the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, organized in 1898 by Professor Mykola Chirvinsky. The Ukrainian Agricultural Academy (UАA), created in 1954 based on the Kyiv Agricultural and Forestry Institutes, was called the Department of General Zootechnics. In 1957, the Department of Farm Animal Feeding of the former Kyiv Veterinary Institute, which became a faculty of the UАA, was added to it. After the opening of the zootechnical faculty in the same year, it became part of it, acquiring the name - department of Feeding Agricultural Animals.
The organiser and the first head of the department (1953–1974) was Professor Pavlo Pshenichny.
Later, the department was headed by Associate Professor Anatoly Zhadan (1974–1987) and Professor Hryhoriy Klitsenko (1987–1994). The department acquired its modern name in 1990; in 2001, it was named after Pavlo Pshenychny.
From 1994 to 2012, the head of the department, doctor of agricultural sciences, professor, academician of the National Academy of Sciences Ibatullin Ildus, the first vice-rector of the National University of Bioresources and Nature Management of Ukraine, vice-president of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine.
From October 2012 to 2014, the department was headed by a Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Associate Professor Volodymyr Otchenashko.
From 2014 to 2016, the department was headed by a Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Associate Professor Mykola Kryvenok.
From September 2016 to the present, the department is headed by Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor Mykhailo Sychov.
