Educational and scientific research laboratories
The department operates Educational, Research and Production Laboratories:
1.Educational laboratory of soil science and soil conservation
2. Educational laboratory of geology and soil mapping
3. Educational-research and production laboratory of soil quality and soil conservation
4. Problematic scientific-research laboratory of soil conservation and soil rational use
The laboratories aim to:
- Study of soil cover;
- Land qualitative assessment;
- Analysis of soil samples for determination of humus content, soil acidity, nutrients content and other indicators of fertility;
- Development of crops fertilizing systems, assessment the requirement for soil liming or gypsum amendmets and calculation of meliorant dose;
- Assessment of the suitability of soils for fruit plantations and recommendations to maintain and increase their productivity;
- Development and maintenance of soil-conservation technologies of crop growing in different climatic conditions;
- Development and scientific support in designing a perennial legume-cereal grass-mixtures on reclaimed land without a cover soil mass layer, which allows to obtain good yields of hay for at least 35-45 kg/ha annually. The technology is based on resource conservation, has a high phytomeliorative, ecological and economic effects;
- Development and scientific support of phytomeliorative rotation for agricultural use of loess loam, a mixture of reddish-brown clay and loam, and gray-green clay marl without coating by fertile soil mass layer.
