Interactive lesson for international students from the chairman of the supervisory board Mykola Tomenko
Since March 06, 2023, applicants of the 1st and 4th courses of the first (Bachelor's) and second (master's) levels of higher education have continued the educational process in an offline format at the NULES of Ukraine. Live in the classroom, students can interact with each other and teachers in real time, which contributes to the growth of their knowledge and the development of social skills. Live communication is of great importance for students, contributes to the positive atmosphere that reigns in the university classrooms, because it primarily provides an opportunity for students to develop communication skills, which is important for a successful career in the future.
Fourth year students of the specialty "International relations, public communications and regional studios” had an interactive lesson in the form of an excursion led by a doctor of political sciences, professor of the department of philosophy and international communication of the faculty of humanities and pedagogy, chairman of the Supervisory Board of the University Mykola Volodymyrovych Tomenko and his companion, Lubomyr Pavlovych Mykhailyna, general director of the National Kyiv-Pechersk historical and cultural reserve.
During the excursion, students were introduced to the most important cultural and historical objects and architectural monuments and their history. During the program the Eternal glory Park, Holodomor Victims Memorial and the complex of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, a unique architectural ensemble that is included in the list of UNESCO Cultural Heritage were visited.
Starting the journey in the park of Eternal glory, located on the picturesque slopes of the Dnipro river, students made a brief excursion into the history of the city of Kyiv. So, the participants learned about the burial sites of outstanding Kyivans, starting from Prince Askold and ending with the families of famous Ukrainian patrons, cultural and artistic figures, Heroes of Kruty, outstanding Ukrainians of the soviet era. They discussed the desperate attempts of the soviet leadership to make an attempt on the historical and cultural heritage of the Ukrainian nation. The tour continued on the territory of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra. One of the largest Christian Centers in Ukraine, a landmark of history and architecture. On its territory there are picturesque sights: Cathedral of the assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Great Lavra bell tower, Trinity Gate Church, Hostynyi Dvir, Refectory Church of St. Anthoniy and Theodosius.
One of these attractions – Museum of Prince Kostiantyn Ivanovych Ostrozkyi, an outstanding statesman and military figure of the first half of the XXVI century, and the Assumption Cathedral of the UOC. Students had a walk along the historical paths of the monastery, along which Taras Shevchenko, Ivan Mazepa and many other outstanding figures once walked.
During the introduction to the monuments of the historical and cultural reserve, the participants discussed a wide range of issues, including: the degree of catastrophic disposition of monuments in the city of Kyiv; uncertainty, the plan of tourist presentation of the city; the importance of dividing the city into fragments according to historical connections; the importance of analyzing each historical event, monument from the point of view of what consequences it had for our people, the country; the need to fight for the place of Ukrainians in history; overcoming the consequences of the policy of russification and totalitarianism.
So, students gained valuable experience in the history, methods and principles of the struggle for national culture heritage. Such events-meetings are important for the formation of a national about the world-view of future international specialists. Since the protection of national heritage, the struggle for its international recognition and the restoration of historical justice is an important element of the future professional activity of future professionals in their field.
