Head of the Student Scientific Club: Volodymyr Anatoliiovych Hlymiaznyi

Associate Professor, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences

The Student Scientific Club ‘Plant Immunity’ of the Department of Phytopathology named after Academician V.F. Peresypkin was established in December 2019. The Club is a voluntary scientific association of students established to organize and promote their research, experimental design, and inventive activities. In its activities, the Club is guided by the current legislation of Ukraine, the Statute of the University, and the Regulations on the Student Scientific Club.

The purpose of the Club’s activities is: to realize the scientific and creative potential of talented University students.

Students’ research is focused on addressing current issues related to plant immunity and the immunological method of protecting agricultural crops against diseases. Within the Problem Research Laboratory of Mycology and Phytopathology, students have the opportunity to develop their skills in assessing the resistance of agricultural crops to diseases; master techniques and methods for studying the effects of passive and active plant resistance mechanisms on the course of the pathological process; and determine the effect of disease resistance on plant productivity. The results of their research are presented and discussed at scientific seminars.

Objectives of the Club:

  • To develop students’ skills in methods for assessing diseases of agricultural crops;

  • To familiarize students with techniques and methods for determining the level of resistance of agricultural crops to diseases;

  • To determine the effect of disease resistance of agricultural crops on their productivity;

  • To determine the effect of structural, morphological, and anatomical factors of passive plant immunity on disease development;

  • To organize educational visits to leading research institutions specializing in plant protection;

  • To collect scientific material for the preparation of publications;

  • To prepare students for participation in scientific conferences;

  • To conduct scientific seminars based on research findings.
