Research Activity
For the period of Department existence two main research directions were formed: the first - Technological Process Automation in Agricultural Production and the second - Automated Electrotechnology and Electrical Equipment in Agriculture.
Ivan Martynenko was Professor, Academician of Agrarian Sciences Academy and Russian Academy of Agrarian Sciences, Honored Worker of Ukrainian Science. He was awarded the Order of the Great Patriotic War II degree (1985) and "Merit" III d., 14 medals. In 1990 he was awarded the honorary title "Honored Worker of Science of Ukraine." Awarded marks "50 years VASHNYL" (1979), "50 years of the Soviet system of certification of scientific and scientific-pedagogical staff" (1983) and others. He received two diplomas of Exhibition of Economic Achievements (1984 and 1986), breastplate "USSR Inventor" (1988). In 2002 he was awarded an "Agricultural Education High Achiever".

Scientific training
20 Ds.E. and 59 Ph.Ds. defended their dissertations including active 11 Ds.E. and 45 Ph.Ds.
The main achievements
Over 400 scientific papers were published including 50 books and brochures, 17 manuals.
32 patents for inventions concerning electrotechnics and automation of technological processes in agricultural production were received.
An important contributions to the methodological foundations of energy assessment of agricultural technology facilities, development and implementation of the concept of energy savings in agriculture were made. Number of electrical and automatic devices and systems were implemented in production.
Recommendations for the power and energy account in pigstry and broiler poultry have been developed.
Energy saving irradiation technologies in greenhouses and exhaust ventilation control in animal husbandry were grounded.
New automatic control ventilation system was created and introduced into production. It provides energy savings up to 50%. The recommendations for renewable energy use in agriculture have been developed.
The head of the school Professor Ivan Martynenko has more than 400 publications, including 12 books and 20 manuals, 34 patent certificates for inventions, 3 publications in foreign journals, 50 dissertation references. There are over 1,000 publications, including over 100 patents and copyright certificates in the school.

Vitaliy Lysenko - First Vice-Rector, Head Department of Automation and Robotic Systems named after Academician Ivan Martynenko, Ph.D., Professor.
He was awarded the honorary title "Honored Educationalist of Ukraine" in 2004, an "High Achiever in Ukraine Education" in 2006, Honorary Diploma of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine – 2008.
Scientific direction – Intelligent control systems for biotechnical objects.
Scientific training
5 Ph.D. theses were successfully defended under Professor Vitaliy Lysenko’s leadership (V. Botvin, I. Bolbot, V. Shtepa, B. Golub, M. Rusynyak).
The main achievements
158 scientific publications were published including 4 textbooks, 4 training manuals. 2 copyright certificates and 5 patents were obtained.
The results of research are implemented in a number of agroindustrial enterprises of Ukraine and guidelines for the development of energy efficient control systems is approved by the Scientific and Technical Council of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine.
