October 28, 2020

Quite often among our pets there are extremely complex diseases, which, unfortunately, are extremely difficult to fight. And this especially applies to autoimmune diseases of animals. For example, the specialists of the "Animal Blood Bank" NNL performed the first systemic administration of donor platelet mass to a recipient animal suffering from autoimmune thrombocytopenia.

During the general blood analysis of the sick dog, a 10-fold decrease in the number of platelets relative to the norm was found. Specialists of the "Animal Blood Bank" NNL performed a blood donation from a donor animal, isolated platelets and received their concentrate, after which they performed a component transfusion of the platelet mass.

It should be noted that after allogeneic platelet mass transplantation in the recipient animal, the number of platelets in the peripheral blood increased by more than three times. Thanks to the transfusion of platelet mass, it was possible to partially restore the functioning of natural hemostasis in the body of the recipient animal and prevent possible bleeding.
