Humanitarians deepen international cooperation with the University of Pomerania in Slupsk

March 29, 2025
The faculty of humanities and pedagogy of NUBiP of Ukraine has long been an active participant in the scientific community not only in Ukraine, but also abroad. One of the types of academic cooperation with foreign partners and already a good tradition has become the holding of joint scientific and practical conferences.
On March 26-27, 2025, the VIII international scientific and practical conference on the cycle «Security of Central and Eastern European countries in the light of changes in the global security environment at the beginning of the XXI century» was held in the Polish city of Ustka, organized by the Pomeranian University in Slupsk (Republic of Poland), co-organized by the NUBiP of Ukraine.
The conference has its own history, because it was first held in 2015, and its main topic was the conflict in Ukraine and, above all, the issue of the annexation of Crimea by russia and the escalation of the conflict in the Donbas. Even then, some speakers said that this is just an epilogue of the entire conflict, which will eventually escalate into a full — scale war-the one we are currently dealing with.
At the international conference on security of Central and Eastern European countries, NUBiP was represented by Doctor of philology, Professor Vasyl Shynkaruk, dean of the faculty of humanities and pedagogy, Associate Professor Inna Savytska and Associate Professor of the department of foreign philology and translation Oksana Zakhutska, as well as lecturers of the department of philosophy and international communication. Professor Vasyl Shynkaruk delivered a report on «Security aspects of international relations in Central and Eastern Europe in the context of the russian-Ukrainian war» at the plenary session. The leitmotif of the speech was the statement of Ignacy Dashinsky «There can be no free Poland without free Ukraine and free Ukraine without free Poland», which during the russian-Ukrainian war was continued: «Without free Ukraine and free Poland there will be no free Europe».
Vasyl Dmytrovych covered in detail the security dimension of international relations in Eastern and Central Europe in the context of the russian-Ukrainian war, presented the key imperatives of psychological and information warfare, the main priorities for ensuring the security of the countries of our region in the context of threats from russia. Separately, he focused on the ways in which russia's war against Ukraine changed the world, and also presented synergy between the West, Ukraine and the countries of the region in the context of deterring russian aggression.
On behalf of the rector of NUBiP of Ukraine, professor Vadym Tkachuk, the president, academician Stanislav Nikolaenko, and the entire staff, Professor Shynkaruk expressed his gratitude for the support of our students, lecturers and compatriots in the difficult time of the full-scale Ukrainian-russian war, and wished them new success in scientific and pedagogical activities.

Well-known Polish and international scientists, representatives of law enforcement agencies and authorities joined the discussion of security issues in Central and Eastern Europe. The event was held at a high organizational and scientific level. Therefore, we sincerely congratulate our Polish colleagues and hope for further fruitful cooperation between our universities!
Humanitarians are deepening international cooperation.

Oksana ZAKHUTSKA,
associate professor of the department of
 foreign philology and translation
