STUDENT SCIENCE IS ONE OF THE PHASES OF THE WORK OF ANIMAL PHYSIOLOGY AND ANIMAL PHYSIOLOGY GROUP OF THE DEPARTMENT OF BIOCHEMISTRY AND ANIMAL PHYSIOLOGY NAMED AFTER ACADEMICIAN M.F. GULOG

November 8, 2022

An important component of the training of students at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at NUBiP of Ukraine is their participation in scientific work, which begins with student circles. Preparing a report for the conference requires excellent theoretical preparation of the issue, and its elaboration in a practical aspect. Therefore, talented young people already from the first courses of study immerse themselves in the perfect study of certain professional issues, which gives an opportunity to understand their purpose and choose the appropriate specialization. The task of the group leader is to gradually guide the student's work on the chosen topic, i.e., study modern literature, complete practical tasks and prepare a report in the form of materials for a conference or publication of an article.

In the "Animal Physiology I" group, students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the 2nd-6th years study under the leadership of Doctor of Science Kladnytska Larisa Volodymyrivna. The work of the student scientific group is carried out in a theoretical and practical direction and covers topical issues of the physiology of the animal body, central and autonomic nervous systems, specific and age-related physiological features of the animal movement apparatus, digestive system, and others. Classes with groups are held in the educational laboratory of animal physiology, the interdepartmental laboratory of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, leading research institutions, the "WSW CLINIC" veterinary medicine hospital in Kyiv, with which the Department of Biochemistry and Animal Physiology named after Academician M. F. Guly cooperates.
Students of the circle Kozub Darya, Vladyslav Velychko, Kasyan Oksana, Nataliya Shchepankivska, Zabrodskyi Kyrylo processed the material on the selected topics and prepared reports for the "One Health" conference, which took place on September 22-24, 2022, at the National University of Bioresources and Nature Management of Ukraine at the faculty of veterinary medicine (Pic. 1).

The choice of the topics of the reports was based on the theoretical basis and was combined with practical skills that the students were able to acquire in the process of studying and working with animals. Natalia Shchepankivska knows many physiological features of chinchillas, as she has been keeping these animals at home for a very long time. So, I decided to highlight in the report the peculiarities of the functioning of the chinchilla digestive system: "Physiological bases of chinchilla digestion". Theses and the report were prepared by Natalia and the supervisor in English (Pic. 2).

Daria Kozub became interested in the issue of physiological substantiation of the content of mineral elements in the diet and their daily doses for cats of different age groups. For kittens during growth and development, pregnant cats and cats of mature age. Darya, under the guidance of Larisa Volodymyrivna, prepared a report for the conference in English on the topic: "The importance of minerals in the diet of cats. Norms of mineral substances". In her report, Daria noted that it is important to dose macro- and microelements according to the animal's age and physiological state (Pic. 3).

Kyrylo Zabrodsky focused his attention on the study of the topical issue of cat allergy and gave a report at the conference in English online on the topic: "CAUSES OF CAT ALLERGY".

Vladyslav Velychko investigates a topical issue – the functional state of the locomotor system the hip and elbow joints (Pic. 5). As a result of the owner's incorrect approach to feeding and exercise during the dog's growth period, there are problems with the formation of the acetabulum, and as a result, this leads to pathology. Therefore, it is important to monitor this process in time to make corrections and prevent the development of pathology. Together with the manager Velichko V.S. conducts x-ray examinations of joints with their subsequent assessment. Based on the results of the research, a publication was prepared on the topic: "Dysplasia of the hip joint in dogs of large and giant breeds."

Student Oksana Kasyan is interested in studying the functional state of the heart muscle using ultrasound diagnostics. During another examination, sexually mature helminths Dirofilaria immitis were found in the patient's right atrial cavity (Pic. 6).

 P. V. Sharandak, head of the "Student Science" section of the "United Health" conference, noted the high level of preparation of the conference participants, the versatility of the chosen topics for presentations, and the incredible interest of students in this event. All conference participants received certificates.

Let's move forward. We are starting work on new topics!
