Lecture series on the topic “EU Agricultural Policy and the Future of Ukrainian Agriculture in the Context of EU Accession”

From February 26 to March 12, IAMO held an online lecture series on the topic “EU Agricultural Policy and the Future of Ukrainian Agriculture in the Context of EU Accession.” The 12 lectures were delivered by lecturers from Germany, including IAMO, the Thünen Institute, the Universities of Göttingen and Rostock, and Slovenia.

The individual sessions addressed the political framework and history of the Common Agricultural Policy, specific agricultural policy instruments and their coherence with other policies, implementation by the member states, and other national agricultural policy measures. In addition, the legal framework and lessons learned from previous enlargements were presented. A concluding discussion involving, among others, the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP) and the Ukrainian Agricultural Business Club (UCAB) focused on the need for reform in both Ukraine and the EU and addressed accession scenarios. The series is integrated into the Agrokebety master’s program at the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine (NUBiP) and is coordinated by the UCAB.
