Football Match between University Administration and Students of NULES of Ukraine

Football fans from NULES of Ukraine celebrated the opening of the 2014 FIFA World Cup by playing their own match between the team of the university administration and staff and the student team that took place several hours before the first official match Brazil-Croatia.

By mutual agreement it was decided that each team would include 2 players who were involved in football more or less professionally. These were the Champion of Ukraine in Minifootball, Vyacheslav Lystopad, and the Master of Sports of Ukraine in Football, Mykola Kostenko, who represented the team of university administration. The student team included the captain of the university football team, Andriy Galimon, and Mykhaylo Statnyk.

The game, which consisted of 2 times of 20 minutes, was very tense despite the fact that the teams never played together before and did not train for the game. The leader of the first time was the university administration team whose Player 10 scored a goal during the last minute of this time. During the second time students attacked more and were very persevering, but the attack began by the Vice-Rector of the University, Sergiy Kvasha, turned out to be successful and Player 10 (and this player was the Acting Head of the University, Stanislav Nikolayenko) scored a goal. So the final score of the match was 2:0 to the team of the university administration and staff.

However, after the game both teams played penalty shootout, but it was just a friendly gesture from the winners whose captain jokingly said that their opponents were tolerant and did not exhaust the teachers as they could have.

And in the opening match between Brazil and Croatia the Brazilian team won 3-1. The first two goals were scored by Player 10 – Neymar from Barcelona Football Club. What an interesting  coincidence!
