1932р.

1932-1952 - assistant professor, later the world famous comparative anatomist, professor, academician of the Academy of Sciences of Soviet Socialist Republic Volodymyr G. Kasyanenko was the Head of the Anatomy Department. Organizational and educational work of the department was the responsibility of V.G. Kasyanenko in conditions of perpetual conversion of directors and variability of assistant membership. The efforts of the young department’s staff have been directed to maintain traditional high level of teaching, the depth of theoretical positions as well as perfect mastery of factual material by dissection of corpses in sectional rooms, which was established at the time of professor B.O. Dombrowsky.

Despite these specific conditions the department’s staff during 1929 - 1934 was selflessly working to outfit department: they were continuously filling up osteological funds, increased and improved the division of dry preparations of the academic museum. The division of preparations in fluids was established. And by 1934 it had already more than 200 preparations.

Adornment of the department became comparative anatomical osteological Museum, wich was rich by the number and variety of skeletons.

For museum creation a lot of effort put H.O. Himmelreich and M.F, Volkoboy. Significant role in installation of dry preparations played B.A. Artemenko. Also it should be remembered technicians of the department G.S. Berestiansky (1930 - 1933) and S.A. Zadka (1932 - 1938.) for the deserts in skeletons installation.

1935-1940 - the division of corrosive preparations was established (H.O. Himmelreich). Unfortunately, this collection didn’t remain after the Great Patriotic War.

1937р. - Volodymyr G. Kasyanenko maintained his dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Biological Sciences. It was the first Candidate dissertation, which was maintained at the Anatomy Department.

1940 - the Department of Anatomy published the third volume of scientific papers of Kyivan Veterinary Instituteto the 20th anniversary of the Institute. The digest had works of the Department’s employees: V.G. Kasyanenko, H.O. Himmelreich, M.F. Volkoboy, H.M. Otroshenko, H.S. Abelyants, V.K. Chubar, M.Z. Nemirovsky, J.B. Chernov.

1941р.

In 22th June 1941 - German planes bombed Kyiv. The Great Patriotic War has began... and evacuation ... students (250 persons) and lecturers have arrived in Sverdlovsk in 5th (25th) of September 1941. Here Kyivan Veterinary Institute has existed on the rights of the veterinary faculty of Sverdlovsk Agricultural Institute for three years.

1944р.

In 1944 - Professor V.G. Kasyanenko and professor V.K. Chubar released monograph "Surgical anatomy study of withers area of a horse" for the cavalry of Soviet Army. For his paper professor V.G. Kasyanenko was decorated with order of the Red Star.

In the same year there was reevacuation from Sverdlovsk and the training in rooms of the institute, which escaped destruction after the war, have begun. Only the main academic building was destroyed and rebuilt in 1962 (now building № 3 of National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine).

The primary task, which was stated to professor V.G. Kasyanenko after the returning to Kyiv, was a requirement to form the staff of the department and in a short time to create the conditions for the start of training.

The department’s staff in the early postwar years, along with the educational process had hard work to arrange the anatomical building, to create bone funds, to repair the museum, library and conditions for research. The department was in the premises, where sectional rooms for the work on corpses were placed before the war. Its main drawback was the lack of space to expand the museum, which affected adversely on the work in coming years.

The main efforts of the collective have been focused on the research of mammal’s locomotor apparatus, study the ventral muscles of trunk and the main gut of vertebrates. The work was carried out in collaboration with the Department of Evolutionary Morphology, Institute of Zoology, USSR. Functional morphological direction was clearly formed during the intensive scientific research, wich was typical for all collective, which led V.G. Kasyanenko. Original direction and achieved results of the research caused the recognition of the staff’s attainments by scientific community of different countries.
