Despite the Fire, the University Continues to Work!

On October 27, the fire broke out in the main building of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine (Building No. 3). The fire started around 5 p.m. on the third floor and quickly swept through the building. Fire fighters did their best, but were able to put out the flames only at midnight. The causes of the fire are investigated. The arson is not excluded.

The building is heavily damaged: the fire destroyed the assembly hall, hall of the Academic Council, the lobby and the room for distance education. The basement, the ground floor and the 1st floor of the building survived, albeit they are flooded. University securities, accounting and financial records, employment records of employees, educational documents, servers of the information centre and automatic telephone system were not damaged.  Students’ documents are kept in another academic building.

The university is working steadily, the educational process does not stop , as well as preparation for the International Scientific Conference “Earth Bioresources and Environmental Biosafety: Challenges and Opportunities”, dedicated to the 115th anniversary of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine and the 15th anniversary of the Global Confederation of Higher Education Associations for the Agricultural and Life Sciences (GCHERA). Time and place of the conference plenary session is the following: November 5, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the International Convention Centre “Ukrainian House" (European Square). Meetings of the sections will be held at the academic buildings of the University (November 6-7) according to the program.

A lot of people, including university graduates, businessmen and many others have already begun to transfer funds to the account of the Charitable Trust of the University "Perspective of NULES of Ukraine" in order to help with the repair works.
