Head of research laboratory for breeding fruit and berry crops and technologies of their cultivation. Author of about 300 scientific papers, 9 patents. He was awarded the Order of Red Banner of Labor (1971), medals "For Labor Valor" (1966), ENEA USSR (1970), MAN Ukraine "Badge of Honor" (2004). Sherenhovyy P.Z. created more than 80 different varieties of horticultural crops: currants (black, red and golden), gooseberries, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, apricots, plums, peaches, sweet cherries, cherries, pear, apple, 19 of them listed in the Register of Plant Varieties Ukraine. For the first time in Ukraine has developed the theoretical foundations of immune selection against fungal diseases currant varieties and started creating them. Its varieties are grown on an area of over 500 hectares.
