QANTUS - Qualifications Framework for Environmental Science of Ukrainian Universities

Project goals:

Wider objective is enhancement of quality and relevance of higher education in Ukraine and increasing convergence with EU developments through elaboration of qualifications frameworks.

Project objectives:

1.     Analyses of existing standards and methodologies of Qualifications Frameworks development in Environmental Science.

2.     Development of sectoral Qualifications Frameworks for Environmental Science studies at Ukrainian universities.

3.     Training courses on developing and implementing new study programs compatible with Qualifications Frameworks in Environmental Science.

Activities:

1.     Analyses of existing standards and methodologies of sectoral Qualifications Frameworks development.

2.     Elaboration of Qualifications Framework in the area of Environmental Science in Ukraine.

3.     Creation of training centers.

4.     Development and implementation of training courses on developing and implementing new study programmes compatible with Qualifications Framework in Environmental Science.

5.     Quality control.

6.     Dissemination of project results.

7.     Project management.

Expected results:

1.     Developed Qualifications Framework for Environmental Science at Ukrainian universities.

2.     Created training centers at partner universities.

3.     Developed and implemented training courses.

4.     Developed project web-site.

5.     Reports on project results and other publications.

The workshop within the WP4 on "The development of training courses for retraining of teaching staff of higher educational institutions"

NUBiP successfully reported on the work and achievements of the program TEMPUS QANTUS

The third study visit within the Tempus project "QUANTUS - Qualification framework in the field of environmental sciences in Ukrainian universities" which was held at the University of Genoa (Italy) and the University of Pavia (Italy)

25-28 May 2015 hosted the third training seminar within the Tempus project "QANTUS - Qualification framework in the field of environmental sciences in Ukrainian universities" at the University of Genoa and the University of Pavia (Italy).

 

NULES of Ukraine was represented by head of educational department, associate professor Oksana Zazymko. The event was attended by MES of Ukraine, Carpathian Ecology Institute and partner universities Ukraine, among them than our University were presented Odessa National Maritime Academy; Odessa State Environmental University; Lviv National Agrarian University; Belotserkovsky national agrarian university; Uman National University of Horticulture and Kharkiv National University named after Karazin.
On the seminar were heard presentation by all project participants, as well as lectures, workshops and discussions that are conducted by professors and employees of the University of Genoa and Pavia (Italy) - Vynchenso Bianco, Alfredo Skvartsony, Monica Penko, Angelo Musayo (University of Genoa) and Mary Konfaloneri and Myshella Kobelly (University of Pavia).

 Workshop participants were introduced with the practical features of the Italian system of higher education in general and the educational process at the University of Genoa and the University of Pavia in particular introduction step education and universities in Italy and accumulation system of credits. Were addressed issues of national and sectoral qualifications frameworks, qualification level of higher education in Italy, planning learning outcomes in the field of environmental sciences, curriculum development and organization of educational process in universities of Italy.

Project of TEMPUS - QANTUS: ecological future of UKRAINE

May 14-15 at the Uman National University of Horticulture was held joint meeting consortium of Tempus project 544524 "Qualifications Framework in Environmental Science at Ukrainian Universities" (QANTUS), which also our university is a member, and scientific-methodical commission on ecology, environment and sustainable nature of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. Participation in this event were Head of training department Oksana Zazymko and Head of Educational Department Larisa Klich and members of the said commission MES from NULES of Ukraine professor Natalia Ridey and professor Vladimir Bogolyubov.

Participation NULES of Ukraine in the monitoring of international Tempus project № 544524 "Qualifications Framework in the field of environmental sciences for Ukrainian universities" 

NULES of Ukraine is an active member of the Tempus project QANTUS "qualifications framework in the field of environmental sciences for Ukrainian universities".

15-16 October 2014 based on the Odessa National Maritime Academy held a meeting of the working group on monitoring of the Tempus project QANTUS, which was attended by representatives of NULES of Ukraine, project manager (contact person) NULES of Ukraine, candidate of agricultural sciences, professor and chief of educational Department Viktor Kalensky , Ph.D., associate professor Oksana Zazymko.

The meeting program was very intensive because each team of Ukrainian universities Tempus project participants QANTUS presented the results of the interim measures during the period of the project, which started in 2014.

Welcoming remarks opened the meeting rector of Odessa National Maritime Academy, PhD, Professor M. Miyusov, who told about the peculiarities of the institution. Project Coordinator, pro-rector V. Zakharchenko presented of expected and received results of the project at the time of monitoring. Further performances continued to representatives of the National Erasmus + office Olena Orzhel and Jeanne Talanova.

Representatives of all Ukrainian universities - participants of the project are about the work done.

Oksana Zazymko was presented full details of the work done in the NULES of Ukraine in the framework of the project. There were discussed relevance of the goals and objectives of the Tempus project NULES of Ukraine and measures implemented by the university under the project the reporting period (formed working groups for the work package, developed an action plan to carry out tasks for the work packages made participation in the coordination and study visits conducted seminars the University under the project formed the project web page on the site NULES of Ukraine and established training center project at the Department of Environment and sustainable Development).

To implement the next steps to realize the project Tempus QANTUS should:

1. Not later than the end of October 2014 to form proposals on issues to be included in the questionnaire to survey stakeholders (employers). The subject of the survey - awareness, attitudes, opinions and suggestions of stakeholders about existing professional and educational standards, the level of competence of graduates, requirements for sectoral qualifications frameworks.

Offers of all Ukrainian universities participants of the project, including NULES of Ukraine will be compiled and summarized to a single application. Project profiles must pass the agreement in consortium, and then agreed questionnaire should be forwarded stakeholders.

2. It is necessary to identify a list of organizations to which our University can apply for questioning.

If possible need to answer would be certified by the seal, organizations stamps or were printed on their letterhead (more answers, the more significant research).

3. Each university partner of the project by the end of October 2014, using paper and electronic versions of the directories of qualifying characteristics trades workers and occupations classifier should create a list of existing qualification characteristics related professions related to the environment, and "bank" of electronic copies these characteristics.

List of qualifying characteristics should include the name and characteristics and clear citation to the source where it is published.

4. Generate a list of existing industry standards of higher education, which in your opinion are correlated with environmental sciences for all educational levels, by whom and when approved standard, by whom and when published.

Workshop in the international project QANTUS «Qualification framework for environmental sciences in Ukrainian universities"

October 9, 2014 at 15.00 was held a workshop for teaching staff involved for training specialists direction of "Ecology, Environmental Protection and Sustainable Use of Natural Resources" in the international project QANTUS «Qualification framework for environmental sciences in Ukrainian universities" for the visit to Lleida (Spain). Participants were familiarized with information about the national higher education system Spain, discussed the higher education qualifications and documents on higher education in Spain, got acquainted with the national classification of education and the provision system of quality education.

The Second Study visit

Professor of chair agrosphere and environmental control Natalia Ridey from 6 to 13 September 2014 (according to invitation) was sent to the University of Lleida, Spain for participate in the second study visit under the project TEMPUS QANTUS "Introduction sectoral qualifications frameworks for specialty "Ecology" in Ukrainian universities."

During the visit, participants received information on the national higher education system Spain, discussed the higher education qualifications and documents on higher education in Spain, got acquainted with the national classification system of education and the provision of quality education. Teachers of University Lleida shared experience in planning outcomes learning in the field of environmental sciences, organization and training of lecturers in university of ecological direction and development of higher education programs.

Workshop in the international project QANTUS "Qulification framework for environmental sciences in Ukrainina universities"

July 14, 2014 at 15.00 in the audience № 222 educational building №17 was held seminar for teaching staff involved for training specialists direction of "Ecology, Environmental Protection and Sustainable Use of Natural Resources" in the international project QANTUS "Qualification framework for environmental science environment in Ukrainian universities" after the visit to Vienna (Austria).

Responsible for conducting a training seminar, Dean of the Faculty of Environment and Sustainable Development, Rybalko Julia, briefed the audience about the quality management system and new teaching methods that she learned at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences. She led a discussion on "The Bologna process - experiment of Ukrainian universities."

The first visit of project

Dean of the Faculty of Ecology and Sustainable Development, Associate Rybalko Julia from 29 June to 5 July 2014 (according to invitation) was sent to the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences) (Vienna)) for participation in the first study visit under the project TEMPUS QANTUS "Introduction sectoral qualifications frameworks for specialty "Ecology" in Ukrainian universities".

During the stay in training she was acquainted with the infrastructure of the university, namely the Center for International Relations, University Library, the software department, department of "water-atmosphere-environment protection", with institutions: Hydraulics and Rural Water Management; Sanitary Engineering and Water Pollution Control; Water Management, Hydrology and Hydraulic Engineering; waste management, etc.

       She listened and has internalized information from lectures by leading professors, namely "Quality Management in BOKU», «New teaching methods", "Bologna process - experiment BOKU» and «Bologna process - experiment Ukrainian universities." All participants in the training conducted fruitful discussion, discussed and exchanged experiences on the implementation of the Bologna process in universities, received answers to questions that arose.

Orientation Workshop in the international profect Qantus "Qulification framework for environmental sciences in Ukrainian universities"

April 29, 2014 at 15.00 in the audience № 222 educational building №17 was held introductory seminar for teaching staff involved for training specialists direction of "Ecology, Environmental Protection and Sustainable Use of Natural Resources" in the international project QANTUS "Qualification framework for environmental science environment in Ukrainian universities" for result of the visit to Warsaw (Poland).

A coordination metting (Warsaw, Poland)

A coordination meeting of implementers of EU project 544524-2013-1-PL-TEMPUS-SMHES «Qualifications Frameworks for Environmental Science at Ukrainian Universities – QANTUS» was held on 13-16 April, 2014 at Warsaw University of Life Sciences (Warsaw). Project partners from universities of Spain, Austria, Italy, Poland, Belgium and Ukraine took part in the meeting.

 Project coordinator Stefan Ignar addressed his welcome speech to the participants of the meeting. He focused on the main point, objectives and expected results of the project. Then during the first day of the meeting time was given to all project partners to present educational and research partner-institutions.

National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine presented the prof. Oksana Zazymko and prof. Victor Kalenskiy.

During the second day of the meeting the main problems related to the project main topic "Implementation of Qualifications Frameworks for Environmental Science at Ukrainian Universities" were discussed. Presentations of EU expert on Bologna system implementation Prof. Marek Frankowicz (Jagiellonian University, Poland), Prof. Vadym Zakharchenko (Odessa National Maritime Academy, Ukraine) and Prof. Jozef Mosiej (Warsaw University of Life Sciences, Poland) directly concerned above-mentioned topic.

Working groups aimed to implement the project in accordance with the defined goals and objectives were created as a result of the coordination meeting of Ukrainian and European partners.
